Practice Management Institute and MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society partner to offer Category 1 Continuing Medical Education for Physicians

New partnership between Practice Management Institute and MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society will allow physicians to receive CME credit for attending classes aimed at improving practice operations.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 25, 2012

Practice Management Institute (PMI) today announced that it has partnered with MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society to offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit courses. This new partnership will allow physicians to receive CME credit for attending classes aimed at improving practice operations.

"Physicians need this type of training to help them manage their number one asset," said Douglas O'Dell, President and CEO of Practice Management Institute. "PMI and MedChi are paving the way with training opportunities such as these, tailored to physician needs. In the wake of practice compliance crackdowns and the impending ICD-10 implementation, this knowledge will help positively impact their bottom line."

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, has hosted PMI classes for practice management training and credentialing for physician practice staff for more than 10 years. Recent changes in staffing have given MedChi the opportunity to strengthen its relationship with PMI in a manner that will affect physicians in Maryland and throughout the United States.

MedChi's CME department has already offered two courses through PMI that were accredited for physicians. An increase in the number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit courses offered by PMI and jointly sponsored by MedChi will be a focus of the two organizations.

"Partnering with PMI has allowed MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, to provide outstanding education to both physicians and their staff in Maryland," said Tina McIlwrath, CCMEP, MedChi's CME Manager. "We are able to prepare both for upcoming changes in a timely fashion, allowing their main focus to remain with patient care."

In April, McIlwrath was among 12 outstanding health care leaders appointed to PMI's National Advisory Board for 2012 and 2013.

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, is a non-profit membership association of Maryland physicians. It speaks on behalf of over 22,000 licensed physicians in the state. Its mission is to serve as Maryland's foremost advocate and resource for physicians, their patients and the public's health.

Practice Management Institute (PMI) teaches physicians and their staffs how to run a more productive, profitable and compliant medical office. Each year, more than 50,000 medical office professionals look to PMI as a leading provider of continuing education and credentialing. These training programs have been hosted in leading hospitals, medical societies and colleges across the U.S. for 30 years.

PMI awards certification by exam for accomplished medical office professionals in the competency areas of coding, reimbursement, compliance and management. As of this printing, more than 16,000 have earned credentials through PMI. Learn more now. Visit: http://www.pmiMD.com.
