ATLANTA, GA, May 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) Tulix Systems, Inc. EVP Dr. Nino Doijashvili announced that last week company more than tripled it available bandwidth. Dr. Doijashvili said, "We had 12 GB/s of Tier 1 blended and optimized bandwidth for the past few years. As we add more and more clients for Multi-Screen streaming (including PC, Mac, iPhone/iPad, Android phones and tablets, BlackBerry phones and tablets, Windows Phone 7, Nokia, ROKU and Smart TV), we must increase our capacity. Therefore, last week we flipped the switch and boosted our data center's Tier 1 bandwidth capacity to 31 GB/s."
Nino continued, "While attending the National Religious Broadcasters Conference in Nashville and the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas we met with several of our current clients and prospects. These professionals were telling us of their desire to extend their audience reach and to make their content available to their potential viewership on multiple screens and devices. Therefore, increasing our ability to help them reach that audience was a no-brainer.
Dr. Doijashvili further explained, "ROKU alone is now available to consumers in big box stores like Costco and Target. This is increasing the number of ROKU devices being used in the marketplace and the number of potential viewers for our customers. We are now positioned to deliver their content to a whole new crop of consumers. Add to that the number of Smart TV's also being sold today and you understand our network capacity upgrade."
She continued, "31 GB/s will also give us the opportunity to offer cost effective plans to new, emerging broadcasters and will allow us to help them grow and find their audience. We love using our experience and deep technical knowledge to help a client grow their business. We have been at the forefront of content streaming on the web since its beginning" she concluded.

When cells hit the wall: UCLA engineers put the squeeze on cells to diagnose disease
2012-05-02
If you throw a rubber balloon filled with water against a wall, it will spread out and deform on impact, while the same balloon filled with honey, which is more viscous, will deform much less. If the balloon's elastic rubber was stiffer, an even smaller change in shape would be observed.
By simply analyzing how much a balloon changes shape upon hitting a wall, you can uncover information about its physical properties.
Although cells are not simple sacks of fluid, they also contain viscous and elastic properties related to the membranes that surround them; their internal ...

Although the findings do not establish a cause-and-effect link between uric acid and high blood pressure, they point to uric acid as one potential mechanism, or at least a biomarker, of disease, the researchers report in the April issue of the journal Hypertension.
Analyzing more than 6,000 medical records of children, ages 12 through 17, from a national databank, the scientists say they ...
