The 11th World University Triathlon Championship will be held in the Taipei region once again on June 29th and 30th 2012.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, May 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Top university athletes from around the world will travel to the Taipei region this June to take part in the 11th annual World University Triathlon Championship.

Organised by the Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation, the competition will take place in Yilan county from June 29th to 30th and will see male and female teams from a number of different countries participating.

Highly trained competitors will embark on individual races across Olympic distances, with a 1.5 km swim followed by a 40 km cycling leg and a ten km run for the finish line.

Each country will enter a maximum of six competitors for the race, with the top three from each nation making it into the team classification.

The event is held in cooperation with the International University Sports Federation, which aims to propagate sporting values and sports practice through competitions of this kind.

Yilan county is located east of Taipei and is known as an area of natural beauty and rich cultural history.
