Current's Laundry Love Project Travels Back Leesburg to Provide Residents Free Laundry Services

Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers will spend Saturday, May 19, helping underserved residents wash and dry their clothes in Leesburg, FL

2012-05-17
LUTZ, FL, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers will spend Saturday, May 19, volunteering their time to help wash the clothes of those less fortunate. The laundry project is held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Leesburg Laundromat. The Laundromat is located at1407 N. Citrus Blvd. (Hwy 27) Leesburg, FL 34748.

The Laundry Love Project, a Current of Tampa Bay project, provides an opportunity for volunteers from throughout the community to assist those in need by helping them afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common need: doing their laundry. Current has hosted these projects primarily in Tampa Bay for nearly three years.

This is Current's third Laundry Love Project in Leesburg and their volunteers are eager to travel back to this community. "The Laundromat owner as well as our volunteers is ready to travel back to Leesburg to support more families. We washed more than 200 loads of laundry, including clothing and linens, during our first two trips to Leesburg. Providing free laundry services offers financial relief to allow community members to redirect funds for gas, home supplies, food and other necessities," said Current President Jason Sowell.

The Laundry Love Project once again received support from the Carver Heights Neighborhood Association. The Carver Heights Neighborhood Association helped bring the first project to Leesburg in July 2011. Miami Mar Inc. and Sonny's Bar-B-Q are also supporting the weekend's project.

To continue these projects, Current seeks donations of laundry detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener, and laundry baskets. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of May 19 or contact Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082. More information about this event can be found online at http://www.LaundrybyCurrent.org
