ATLANTA, GA, May 21, 2012 (Press-News.org) Quinetha Frasier, MBA of Firstborn Group, LLC will present social enterprise as an viable option for creating revenue to support nonprofit missions on May 22, 2012 with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN). The workshop is from 10:30 am - 11:45 am at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Atlanta, GA. The "Social Enterprise: Nonprofits in the Business of Funding Change' class will provide attendees with practical strategies and case studies on how to create additional revenue streams. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how to advance their social mission through market based strategies and business disciplines of earning income.
Professor Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Recipient, commented that, "Access to capital is a 'foundational right', because having it allows other rights to build upon it. Many of our country's charitable organizations' access to capital have been reduced in light of the U.S. financial crisis. The once plentiful sources of private and Federal grants have become more scarce and competitive. Solely relying on grants and private gifts keep nonprofits in a competition for limited capital resources that cannot ensure financial sustainability. Quinetha Frasier, Nonprofit Funding Strategist, has found that in her 13 years of experience, "The most successful nonprofit organizations are those who identify a variety of funding sources, including enterprise. While they are charitable in nature, nonprofits must create business strategies to ensure they are profitable enough to uphold their social missions for the long term." The GCN Annual Summit offers an entire track on 'Development' for nonprofit leaders looking to learn more about funding development.
During this workshop, attendees will be provided with the following information regarding Social Enterprise for nonprofits: 1. A clear understanding of social enterprise and how they are operated; 2. Knowledge of how social enterprise is tied to the sustainability of a nonprofit organization; 3. A measurable framework for the planning of a social enterprise venture.; and 4. Exposure to successful social enterprise models from Atlanta and across the country. This workshop is one of the many offered at the GCN Annual Nonprofit Summit. Further information on the summit is available at http://www.gcn.org or http://www.nonprofitsummit.org.

Improved lubrication without oil
2012-05-21
Metalworking plays a key role in industry. Drilling, milling, turning and grinding operations all use lubricants to prevent work pieces and tools from overheating and from excess wear. Standard lubricants today are based on mineral oil. This has drawbacks: fossil mineral oils come from finite resources, transport relatively little heat away from the work piece, are harmful to health and are flammable. All of this calls for extreme technical efforts, for occupational safety, fire safety and disposal, for example. So there's a need for alternative lubricants.
