Reed.co.uk Supports '4G Britain' Campaign

Job site says the new technology could offer both economic and social benefits.

LONDON, ENGLAND, May 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) One of the UKs leading job sites, www.reed.co.uk, is supporting the '4G Britain' campaign encouraging the government to invest in 4G services, pointing out that the new technology could create thousands of jobs in the UK.

The job site is advocating a recent report published by Everything Everywhere, the UKs largest network operator, which suggests 125,000 jobs could be created with sufficient investment in 4G mobile data services.

Everything Everywhere, the company formed after the merging of Orange and T-Mobile phone networks, have been strong proponents of the technology: setting up the '4G Britain' campaign website, which went live on April 30th, and lobbying for the government to introduce 4G in the near future.

Their commissioned report found that installing 4G, which is capable of delivering faster mobile broadband speeds to customers, could generate an extra GBP75 billion to Britain's gross domestic product each year, as well as boost job opportunities up and down the UK.

reed.co.uk says one of the most pleasing elements of the report alludes to job creation right across the UK- as opposed to focusing recruitment in one region or city. They say investment in the technology could help thousands of people gain jobs in IT and telecoms industries.

"Everything Everywhere's research highlights the potential economic and social benefits 4G could bring to the UK," said a spokesperson for reed.co.uk

"With sufficient amounts of investment, the technology could also create thousands of jobs; helping jobseekers up and down the UK find work in technical industries, such as IT and Telecoms."

Last month market research firm, YouGov, released findings which showed that 74% of British adults wanted 4G introduced 'as soon as possible'. The survey also showed that 82% of respondents believed adopting the technology was vital if Britain was to remain competitive and creating new jobs.
