New Online Reaction Time Test Causes a Smash

With car crash scams still prevalent, Claims Heaven have launched a new online game which puts players in the position of innocent drivers to develop awareness of just how difficult it can be to avoid the street scammers.

2012-06-19
ABERDEENSHIRE, SCOTLAND, June 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) Figures show that in in previous years, their have been up to 40 gangs in the UK operating cash-for-crash cons. 13 people from Hertfordshire were given jail sentences for creating false crashes and 33 people in Liverpool were charged with staging fictitious accidents.

Ever since the "rear-ender" precedent was set back in 1974, police have tended to always lay the blame for car accidents on the driver in the vehicle behind. Whilst that can generally be a good rule of thumb for genuine accidents, it is a system which gives crash scammers the opportunity to exploit the law and create car accidents which will give the police no obvious choice other than to blame the innocent driver of the vehicle behind.

Most unfortunate victims of crash staging may not ever realise they have been conned.

With that in mind, Claims Heaven have developed a fun online game which puts players in the driving seat and helps them understand the tactics of the car crash scammers.

Once behind the wheel, cars will overtake and pull out in front of the player. The problem is, they won't know which ones the scammers are driving.

Whilst the game is fun to play and there are points on offer for successful collision avoidance, the real aim is to give a fuller awareness to the public of a very serious problem.

The key message of the game, and from Claims Heaven, is that whilst innocent drivers may not be able to do anything to prevent the scammers causing an incident, they should be aware of the tactics these criminals are using and, if suspicious, let the police know of their concerns.

You can play the game now at:

2012-06-19
Spending money on activities and events, such as concert tickets or exotic vacations, won't make you happier if you're doing it to impress others, according to findings published in the Journal of Happiness Studies. Research has shown that consumers gain greater happiness from buying life experiences rather than material possessions, but only if they choose experiences for the right reasons says the new study. "Why you buy is just as important as what you buy," said Ryan Howell, assistant professor of psychology at San Francisco State University. "When people buy life ...
