MIDDLESEX, ENGLAND, June 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) British Airways is bringing a bit of winter sunshine to London City Airport by extending its popular Palma and Ibiza flights to a year-round service.
At present the two Balearic Island destinations are summer-only but from October they will continue through the winter with two flights a week on Thursdays and Sundays.
The news will come as a welcome boost to Ibiza since the island does not currently have a single direct service to the UK during the winter.
The two islands are very popular with leisure customers through the summer and now winter sun seekers and second home owners have the chance to fly there in style throughout the year. Holidays in Ibiza offer something for everyone. Away from the lively nightlife hotspots, the island harbours secluded coves, family resorts, pine-scented hills and vibrant Catalan culture. The glamorous Ibiza Town is another draw full of ancient sites and party venues.
Luke Hayhoe, general manager commercial, BA CityFlyer, said: "Leisure flying is a really important part of our business now from London City. Winter sun breaks are a very popular market and with London City's unique 20 minute check-in time with luggage customers can leave the gloom of winter and be in the sun in less than three hours."
The news follows the launch of new flights to Mahon in Menorca for summer 2012 which completes the airline's Balearic Islands portfolio. As the airline continues to grow its network customers have more choice to more business and leisure destinations, flying on one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the business.
British Airways offers all-inclusive fares to all destinations, which include a generous free 23kg luggage allowance, free on-line check-in and seat selection 24 hours before departure and complimentary food and drink on board.
New low all-inclusive one-way fares for winter and great value holiday packages are now available on www.ba.com
