NEW YORK, NY, July 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) There are countless ways in which technology has revolutionized the way that human beings communicate with one another. From smart phones to Facebook, from e-mail to text messaging, technology has done much to make communication easier, faster, and more convenient. Technology's focus on rapid response may make communication easier, however, but it has not necessarily made communication better, something that is highlighted in a recent article by the Huffington Post. The article claims that, in the Digital Age, technology is on the decline--a finding that has won comment from Dallas pastor Ed Young.
The Huffington Post article claims that, as more and more people prioritize the immediacy and ease of cell phones and social networks, actual face-to-face interaction is falling out of fashion. The report's conclusion is that, while communications technology may be improving, intimacy is experiencing a decline. Ed Young is a pastor and author who has long been passionate about the subject of intimacy within human relationships; the pastor has responded to the Huffington Post article with a new statement to the press.
"Our society is characterized by instant gratification," observes Dallas pastor Ed Young. He goes on to say that technology, and the resulting decline in intimacy, is especially significant for married couples. "Today's world is driven by technology and too many couples do not truly connect with one another. To create a successful marriage, a couple must create a strong sense of intimacy. While it is a shame that the great innovations of today's society have compromised the strength of some of our personal relationships, this article has provided readers with some wonderful insight into reconnecting with people on a more personal level."
For Ed Young, speaking out on the topic of intimacy within a marriage is nothing new. This has long been an issue on which the pastor has taught. In fact, his most recent book, Sexperiment--released earlier this year--details his teachings on marital intimacy, noting that, while sex is not the only important part of a marriage, it does offer many benefits to married couples. Some of these benefits include better communication, and more rigorous standards of purity.
In addition to his list of intimacy's benefits, Young also offers his readers a challenge. Specifically, he invites Christian married couples to enjoy sexual intimacy together, every day for a week, and then to see how it affects their married relationship. Ultimately, Young believes that intimacy is vital for any marriage to succeed, and to remain happy.
ABOUT:
The founding pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, Ed Young is the writer of more than a dozen books. His most recent publication, written with his wife, Lisa, is Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy with Your Spouse. In addition to preaching about the importance of a healthy sexual relationship within a marriage, Ed Young is known for his insight into topics related to families and parenting.
