Using Guide by Cell's technology, the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers will be implementing an Audio Cell Phone Tour this summer to guide visitors through their multiple exhibits and plant life.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, July 14, 2012

Using Guide by Cell's technology, the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers will be implementing an Audio Cell Phone Tour this summer to guide visitors through their multiple exhibits and plant life.

Visitors may call from their mobile device and enter a corresponding prompt to receive in-depth information and insight on the various plants and flowers housed inside the historic building. The Audio Tour is free to visitors and does not require the rental of audio equipment.

"Guide by Cell's easy-to-use service allows the Conservatory to react quickly when something new or unusual is taking place in the galleries and to be able to share that immediately with the public," says Erika Frank, the Conservatory's Director of Volunteer Services. "The staff can arrive in the morning, see that an orchid bloom has opened overnight, and set up a sign and recording before we open. It's an easy and fast tool that allows us to be responsive to visitors' curiosity about the plants that stand out the most."

The conservatory is currently hosting "Plantosaurus Rex: Prehistoric Plants at the Conservatory of Flowers," a look at prehistoric plants and ferns, until October. Visitors will be able to witness giant ferns, spiky horsetails and primitive cycads that fed the dinosaurs millions of years ago.

Guide by Cell also offers additional mobile technology solutions such as its new "Mobile Docent" service that combines QR codes, mobile websites and text messaging in one integrated package.
