MARINA DEL REY, CA, July 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dr. Grant Stevens says he has seen a recent surge in laser hair removal among Los Angeles men and women. The Southern California plastic surgeon, whose locale allows him to keep abreast of the most current trends in cosmetic body enhancement, sees a striking correlation between the Summer Olympics and his patients' desire to be hair-free.
"I would be surprised if there weren't a regular statistical upswing in laser hair removal during each year in which a Summer Olympics takes place," says the surgeon, who specializes in procedures ranging from body contouring to BOTOX in Los Angeles. "Patients often comment on how watching athletes with smooth, shiny bodies makes them not only want to get into shape but also want to get rid of unwanted body hair."
Male and female athletes in sports such as swimming, cycling and track-and-field tend to remove hair from their arms, legs and torsos to shave precious milliseconds off their finish times. While some choose to shave daily, laser hair removal can be a much more convenient alternative. Of course, the viewing public, which is more likely to remove body hair for appearance than for improved athletic performance, also has laser hair removal as an option.
"The athletic look is extremely popular among my patients, and throughout Los Angeles as a whole," Dr. Stevens says. "With our weather and our beach culture, looking healthy takes on a higher level of importance than you see in other locales."
Laser hair removal is especially popular among men; the American Society of Plastic Surgeons ranked it as the second most common cosmetic procedure among American males in 2011. The top procedure among men that year was BOTOX. Los Angeles men and women often combine these procedures to achieve a healthy, youthful look.
The Stevens Institute is a medical spa affiliated with Marina Plastic Surgery, where Dr. Stevens is medical director. Dr. Stevens started The Stevens Institute with the goal of providing quality skin care to patients both before and after surgery.
Dr. Grant Stevens is medical director of Marina Plastic Surgery in Marina del Rey, California. He is a diplomate of The American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons and The International College of Surgeons. Dr. Stevens is director of the USC Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship and Aesthetic Surgery Division, on the editorial board of Aesthetic Surgery Journal and on the board of directors of The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. An international traveling professor, Dr. Stevens was recognized by his peers as one of America's Best Physicians in The Guide to Top Doctors.

What is a Patch Panel and Why is it Needed for a Computer Server Rack?
2012-07-22
Assembling hardware is normally arranged so the number of similar or same circuits appears on jacks. This makes it more convenient for monitoring, interconnecting as well as testing all circuits, in a flexible manner. Patch panels make it a lot easier for IT technicians to rapidly change paths of selected signals and this makes it very cost effective. There is no extra expense of dedicated switching equipment so the money saved can be substantial.Typically a shorter patch cable plugs into the front side of the panel and at the back holds a connection which is much longer ...
Employee Satisfaction and Talent Acquisition: Why Wellbeing is a Must
2012-07-22
In the current employment market, small and medium enterprise (SME) employers need to do everything possible to attract and retain the best staff. And while it's true that SME organisations have traditionally scored well on important points such as employee satisfaction, there are always opportunities for gaining an edge over the competition and demonstrating how staff are valued - such as providing private medical insurance for employees.
Currently it looks like there are challenges for UK organisations in terms of employee satisfaction and engagement generally - and ...

2012-07-22
Dance enthusiast Amy Nichole Banner had her holiday turned upside down when her dancing partner Richard's heart stopped. His friends had already noticed "the colour drain from his face" and rushed over to help.
Amy was first on the scene and quickly established that Richards's heart was not beating. As a mere coincidence she had completed a 3 day first aid course just days before and because of this knew the correct CPR ratios. From this point onwards she took the role of group leader in what would need to be a heroic team effort:
"It was important ...
