NEW YORK, NY, August 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) As consumers become more budget conscious in a time when financial responsibility is paramount, people are starting to look for ways to shave off unnecessary expenses. These days there are plenty of ways a person can save money, and one of the most effective tactics is through customization of products. For instance, if one does not need particular features on their new car or cell phone, the consumer can simply opt not to have them and thus, pay less. Now, life insurance policies--some of the most important financial assets a person can have--are part of this strategy. According to a recent article from The Wall Street Journal, Allstate has joined the movement with its True TermSM option to its customers. Ron Olsthoorn, a financial expert who has worked in the insurance industry, believes personal tailoring to policies is vital to help providers retain and attract new customers.
In the article, Don Civgin, Allstate Financial President and CEO, explains why the company decided to go forward with this new arrangement, "Life insurance needs vary with your age, the ages of your children and your financial plans. If you can anticipate some of those needs, you no longer need to overbuy life insurance coverage. Allstate can now save you money through a more tailored term life insurance policy." Depending on the policyholder's life plan, he or she can lay out how long they want coverage for, between 10 and 30 years. Over that time, customers can layer their policies as they see fit, asking for more coverage when they need it, such as when their child is not yet an adult.
According to Ron Olsthoorn, these options are tremendous benefits to life insurance customers and are certainly something that should be taken advantage of. However, as an all-around expert on insurance types, Ron Olsthoorn explains that consumers tend to pay less attention to their life insurance than other policies, such as home or car coverage. He notes that life insurance should receive the same level of attention, if not more, as it can seriously impact the financial situation of a policyholder's family in the event of an emergency.
For those considering taking on an Allstate True TermSM plan, Ron Olsthoorn suggests, "People need to review their needs on a regular basis to ensure their loved ones will maintain the lifestyle they have grown accustomed to. The cost of term life insurance combined with their flexibility makes protecting ones earning potential easier than ever."
