NEW YORK, NY, August 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) According to a recent article from The Los Angeles Times, the celebrated classic film actress, Celeste Holm passed away on July 15, 2012 from a heart attack following a period of hospitalization. While the Hollywood community and film fans mourn her death, many are reexamining the starlet's vast cinematic career that took place over her 95 years of life. Although the actress is known for her Oscar-winning role in Gentleman's Agreement and a breakthrough performance in All About Eve, vintage film retailer, Loving the Classics urges cinephiles to explore her lesser known characters.

Loving the Classics offers many hard-to-find classic films on DVD for viewers who want to appreciate the cinema of yesteryear. Among its selection are a few of Celeste Holm's early titles, which include her first film, Three Little Girls in Blue (1946), as well as Carnival of Costa Rica (1947) and Everybody Does It (1949). The Los Angeles Times reports that while Holm had several recognized achievements in Hollywood and Broadway, other works of hers were not remembered, which include the aforementioned titles. In fact, in 1991 the actress even stated how rare her older performances were, "I made two movies I've never even seen."

In a recent press statement, Loving the Classics commented, "Celeste Holm was a very powerful performer that was able to command a variety of emotions and characters. In order to fully appreciate the breadth of her talent, film aficionados should enjoy her earlier work. Not only do these films provide a rare glance into the beginning of a successful career, but they also highlight the unique performances that many modern films lack."

The article reveals that Holm was also known for her charitable efforts that included UNICEF fundraising and serving a six-year appointment with the National Council on the Arts. She was also recognized as the president of the Creative Arts Rehabilitation Center and her participation on the Save the Theatres Committee. Although, the actress was recently involved in a prolonged legal battle between her family members, Loving the Classics states that it is her talent and dedication to the arts that lives on.
