DROGHEDA, IRELAND, August 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) AADI highly train dogs to assist children with autism and their families which can have a life changing effect not only on the children themselves but also on their parents and siblings.
Established in April 2010, AADI receive no funding from the Government and rely entirely on the public's generosity to fund the training which costs EUR15,000 per dog. Their fantastic work involves over 15 months on their Puppy Fostering Scheme followed by 6 months intensive training with their instructors so that they are fully socialised and able to support and assist a child with autism. The dogs are provided free of charge to the family and families must meet specific criteria and must pass a home assessment to be considered for an assistance dog. Full training is provided to the family in advance of the dog being placed in the home and aftercare support is provided for future months and years.
