SMITHTOWN, NY, October 06, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Smithtown Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce John Vigilante as their honoree at the 22nd Annual Smithtown Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing, taking place on Monday, August 22 at St. George's Golf & Country Club in Setauket.
"We are excited to have John Vigilante as our honoree at our golf outing this year," said Barbara Franco, Executive Director of the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce. "Evidenced by his affiliations with so many associations, John still finds the time and effort to continue to support the many events the Smithtown Chamber coordinates. John's dedication to the Smithtown community makes him the perfect choice for this year's honoree."
John is a fourth generation funeral director. His business approach is very sensitive and responsive which enables him to meet the needs and wants of each family. John strives for unequaled excellence in providing a meaningful, dignified and unique service to all families he serves at the Branch Funeral Home.
"I am proud to be selected as honoree," said John Vigilante, Manager of The Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown. "Being acknowledged by the people in my community makes my job that much more rewarding."
Under John's leadership, the Branch Funeral Home has been awarded the Pursuit of Excellence Award for four consecutive years. This award is presented to only the top two percent of funeral homes in the country and is given to firms that have achieved top honors in the National Funeral Directors Association Pursuit of Excellence program. Currently, John is working hard to grow the family business into the twenty first century. He has introduced web-casting to the families he serves which allows those who are unable to attend a funeral to be able to watch it live.
In addition to running one of the most successful funeral homes on Long Island, John is actively involved in the Smithtown community. He is a member of the Smithtown Sunrise Rotary Club, public relations director for the Senior Resource Alliance and chancellor for the Knights of Columbus, Holy Mother Mary Council#3958 and a committeeman District #2 of Smithtown. He is a member of the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, Nesconset Chamber of Commerce and St. James Chamber of Commerce. He is the president of Sons of Italy, St. Thomas Aquinas Lodge in Hauppauge and an usher at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
John is a Smithtown native, growing up in St. James where he lived with his parents, Henry and Loretta and his four brothers and sister. He is a graduate of Sts Philip and James and St. Anthony's High School. In 1998, he graduated from Nassau Community College School of Funeral Directing and then received his Bachelor's Degree from Dowling College School of Business. In his leisure time, John enjoys golfing, boating, fishing and being with his family and friends.
