Flair: Bringing Fashionable Philanthropy to Glenview's North Shore Country Club, Oct. 19

This acquisition event is the first of many "Flair" events. In September of next year, all donated clothing and accessories will go down the runway at Saks Fifth Avenue on Michigan Ave., followed by a two-day sale at The Peninsula Chicago.

CHICAGO, IL, October 08, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Chicago Lighthouse is hosting its first "Flair- Fashionable Philanthropy Acquisition Event" at Glenview's North Shore Country Club, 1340 Glenview Road, Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a fun evening of fashion, conversation, cocktails, hors d'oeurves and philanthropy. As an added treat, book reviewer and academic entertainer Barbara Rinella will perform a dramatization of Tapert and Edkin's The Power of Style, in which she will impersonate several historical fashion icons profiled in the book's analysis of "the women who define the art of living well."

Guests are asked to bring a minimum of one item of couture, designer or vintage clothes or accessories as a donation to next year's "grand finale" runway show and sale event.

These donated items will be featured in the upcoming Flair fashion show at Saks Fifth Avenue on Michigan Ave and two-day sale at The Peninsula Chicago in September 2011.

"These acquisition events offer a great chance for people to share and enjoy their love of fashion and philanthropy," said Dr. Janet Szlyk, Lighthouse president and executive director. "We are so grateful for our Flair Committee, who has played an integral role in guiding in this marriage."

Dr. Szlyk also added a special thanks to major Flair Sponsors, Saks Fifth Avenue on Michigan Ave and The Peninsula Chicago.

This month's acquisition event is a component of next year's Flair fashion runway show at Saks Fifth Avenue on Michigan Ave, which will take place Saturday, September 24, 2011.

After the show, guests will immediately be able to purchase the clothes and accessories through Sunday, September 25, 2011 at The Peninsula Chicago. All event proceeds will benefit The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired.
