Great Pumpkin Glow Offers Spectacular Fall Experience

On Sunday Oct. 21 from 4 - 9 p.m, gorgeous 47-acre Kingwood Center will come ablaze during the annual Great Pumpkin Glow.

MANSFIELD, OH, October 10, 2012 (Press-News.org) Gorgeous 47-acre Kingwood Center will come ablaze during the annual Great Pumpkin Glow. On Sunday Oct. 21 from 4 - 9 p.m., the stunning display of hundreds of glowing pumpkins will warmly greet guests as they walk through Kingwood Center's lush grounds. The public is also invited to get in on the action and contribute to the display, carving his or her own pumpkin Oct. 19-20 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Pumpkin carving is free, but supplies are limited. In addition to grinning, creatively carved pumpkins, Kingwood Center's gardens will be filled with glow-in-dark balloons, friendly scarecrows, festive and dramatic gourd displays, towering corn stalks and beautiful chrysanthemums. The whole family can also enjoy a hay wagon ride, warm and delicious pulled pork sandwiches, funnel cakes and coffee. Packed with the healthiest and most interesting plant species, great gardening gadgets and more, Kingwood's Greenhouse will also offer special end-of-the-year deals. Great Pumpkin Glow tickets are $5 per person (children under 12 are admitted free of charge) and free parking is available at nearby Arlin Field.

Kingwood Center is a 47-acre estate, built in 1926 by Charles Kelly King. King made his fortune by leading the Ohio Brass Company into new ventures, becoming President and Chairman of the Board. After his death, King left the estate to the foundation that continues to operate Kingwood Center today. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the center boasts acres of large, formal, public gardens; stunning plant collections; ponds; a vast menagerie of peacocks and ducks; extensive gardening libraries; special events, workshops and classes and plant sales.
