QUINLAN, TX, October 31, 2012 (Press-News.org) For Eric Mack, all roads led to dentistry for as long as he could remember. "When I find something old and broken, I like to make it new again," says Mack. "I took six years of woodshop and have always liked working with my hands and building things. I've always known that I wanted to do something in the health field, work with my hands and make things new again. Dentistry was the obvious choice."
Dr. Mack received his DDS degree from the University of Texas Houston in 2004. He then joined the Public Health Service in Fairbanks, AK where, for two years, he provided dental services in remote villages. Afterwards, he opened a dental practice in Denver, CO and started doing simple oral surgery procedures. In 2012, he completed a post-graduate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry.
"We're delighted to welcome Dr. Mack back to Apple Orthodontix," says CEO Chad M. Packard. "He worked for us from 1998 to 2000 as a chair side and lab assistant before he went to dental school. His recent addition to our staff of orthodontic specialists means that we can offer patients a more comprehensive version of orthodontic care which now includes routine oral surgical procedures. Dr. Mack is mostly performing wisdom teeth and bicuspid extractions, exposures, bonds and frenectomies. These procedures add to the convenience and continuity of care that Apple is known for."
Dr. Mack works out of several offices for Apple Orthodontix, the largest provider of orthodontic care in the north Texas area. He believes in early treatment and intervention. "People want to keep their teeth their whole life, so good oral health is important both cosmetically and functionally," says Mack. "The key is to develop good habits early so you don't cause any long term damage. If you want to enjoy eating forever, you'd better take care of your teeth!"
When not helping to create beautiful smiles, Dr. Mack spends time with his wife and six children, remodels houses, enjoys college football and plays an occasional game of golf.
Apple Orthodontix has full-time opportunities for motivated associate orthodontists capable of growing a practice. Ownership is an option. If interested, contact cpackard@appleortho.com.

The Field of Vision
2012-10-31
In order to understand how your eyes work, you should take time to learn about the many different components that make up human vision. The term "field of vision" (also called "field of view") refers to the full range of vision that a person observes at any given moment. Human beings have close to an 180-degree horizontal field of view, granted by our forward-facing eyes. In contrast, many birds have a complete 360-degree field of vision. The vertical range of a human being's field of vision is usually around 100 degrees.

Understanding Pennsylvania's Ignition Interlock Device Law
2012-10-31
There are tough consequences for a driving under the influence in Pennsylvania. One potential penalty is an ignition interlock device. Ignition interlock devices are designed to prevent drivers from operating their cars when their blood alcohol level is over the legal limit. A driver cannot start a car unless they blow into the device. If the device detects any alcohol, the car will not start.
Pennsylvania began requiring these devices in 2000, when the state enacted the Pennsylvania Ignition Interlock Law. Although the purpose of the law is to decrease drunk driving ...

One potential benefit of being a successful professional athlete is a lucrative endorsement deal. Pro athletes now endorse just about any type of product like cars, fast food, fashion, fragrances and so on. And in the beverage industry, while a substantial number of athletes continue to be hired as sponsors for more traditional energy drinks and nutritional supplements, some athletes are now venturing into the arena of alcohol sponsorship.

Ohio recently joined the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign to step up police efforts to get drunk drivers off the roads. The Importance of Hiring an Experienced DUI Attorney
2012-10-31
A North Philadelphia man is now facing 5 to 10 years in prison after being convicted of homicide by motor vehicle while driving under the influence. The man's drunk driving had sparked a chain-reaction collision that ultimately killed one pedestrian and seriously injured another.
Despite the 54-year-old man's deteriorating health, the judge disregarded his defense attorney's request for leniency. Instead of sticking with the 3-to 6-year prison term required by law, the judge added an additional 2 to 4 years onto the man's sentence for aggravated assault by vehicle. According ...
