SALT LAKE CITY, UT, November 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Superstorm Sandy has devastated the lives of thousands of people. The storm's death toll is now over one hundred and it's unknown exactly how many people are unaccounted for as many ongoing search efforts continue to take place. The total economic damage from Superstorm Sandy could run as high as $50 billion, according to some estimates, possibly making it the second-costliest storm in U.S. history after Hurricane Katrina.

The CFPB is the youngest federal agency, formed just over a year ago in July 2011. The agency came into being under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, a law passed in the wake of the Great Recession.
Part of the CFPB's mission is to supervise banks, credit unions and other firms ...

If voter initiative 502 passes in Washington State on Tuesday night, the criminal justice system will have a steep learning curve interpreting the complicated provisions of the new law. Attorney Steve Graham, in his latest post on Initiative 502, explains the various provisions and what they mean for the people of Washington. The law is not retroactive but Mr. Graham predicts that prosecutors will lose interest in following through with many pending cases involving the smaller amounts of marijuana. While the law decriminalizes the possession of marijuana in small amounts, ...

Protective Paint Tested on Space Station Makes for 'Curious' Ride to Mars
2012-11-05
A coating that survived long-term exposure on the International Space Station took an even longer journey on the Mars Curiosity Rover and is protecting the craft's critical power unit as it collects data on Mars. Not all space environments are the same, but if a material can survive for a long time in one space environment, it may prove useful for longer exploration missions.
Curiosity's paint-like spray coating, AZ-2100-IECW, was exposed to the harsh space environment for four years as part of the Materials on International Space Station Experiment (MISSE) investigation. ...
