Georgia Health Insurance Broker McCart Insurance Encourages College Student Immunizations

McCart Insurance wants college students to get their shots and avoid illness this semester.

2012-11-08
NORCROSS, GA, November 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) McCart Insurance understands that no one likes to get shots, but that doesn't mean they aren't necessary. The Georgia health insurance broker wants to remind students that there is a good reason that vaccinations are required for college students. With the proximity of living in a dorm, eating in a cafeteria and attending classes, students can easily be exposed to contagious diseases.

Many colleges require students that are intending to live in the dorms to get boosters for measles and whooping cough. Other recommended vaccinations for college students including meningitis and annual flu shots. Most vaccinations are covered by Georgia health insurance plans. Taking the time to get back to school immunizations can protect college students from an uncomfortable illness or worse.

Between the crazy hours they spent studying and the often poor nutrition college students seem to prefer, their bodies are already weakened against these virus. Add to that the close confines and stress and students are primed to catch whatever happens to be going around. Affordable individual health plans can cover the cost of immunizations to help prevent students from getting sick when they can least afford it.

Health insurance in Georgia doesn't have to be expensive to cover the basic needs of college students.

Alicia McCart, CEO, said that getting immunizations as part of your back to school planning just makes perfect sense. "Catching the measles during mid-terms or getting whooping cough when you're trying to study for finals can be devastating. A shot may not be fun, but it's a lot better than getting sick."
