Top VA Mortgage Lender Proud to Employ Veterans

iFreedom Direct recognizes the tremendous sacrifices veterans give to serve our country. Hiring Veterans is one way the company can show its appreciation.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, November 09, 2012

Long before President Obama signed the recent bill to provide tax incentives to companies that hire veterans, top-ranked national VA mortgage lender iFreedom Direct Corporation made it a practice to employ our country's heroes. As a VA specialty lender, the company primarily serves veterans.

In their own unique way, each veteran employed by this leading VA loan company has an impact on the success of operations. Some of the veterans employed by iFreedom Direct offer insights on working in the VA loan industry and what Veterans Day means to them.

Rickey Kirby, a Senior VA Loan Specialist, says his military background gives him a "step up" in relating to veterans who are seeking VA loans. "A mortgage can be one of the most serious decisions a person can make in their lifetime," shares Kirby. "As soon as I start talking military jargon with my clients, it puts them at ease. Sometimes a call will take a bit longer because we can really chat it up." As far as Veterans Day goes, Kirby considers it one of the most important holidays - right up there with the Fourth of July. Having served with the U.S. Army for 23 years before retiring, he will take the day off and will likely visit a military memorial park to volunteer as he has done in the past.

Dave Evans, a former Weapons Specialist for the Marines Armored Division and Iraqi War Veteran, is also a loan officer at iFreedom Direct. According to Evans, 99% of his clients are veterans, and he's even come across a few of his fellow comrades from overseas while doing business over the phone. Evans reminisces about one special Veterans Day five years ago: "The most memorable Veterans Day I ever had was when I was stationed in Iraq in 2007. The Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day were a day apart. They tried to recognize both days the best they could in a war zone with speeches and formations. Iraq is a dry state, but they even managed to bring in some beer. It really does make you appreciate everything that we have here. Sometimes it's like veterans have to give up the very freedoms they are fighting for in order to fight."

Tim Lewis is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 22 years of military service under his belt. He has been in the mortgage industry for more than 20 years. As a retired Army Major, Lewis is a very valuable team leader in the purchase loan department. As the son of a WWII veteran, he has a long history of observing Veterans Day. Of the holiday, Lewis says, "It's the sacred day. I used to spend it with my father. We'd go to the VFW, play pool and wear uniforms all day. Now, I take the day off, call all my Army buddies and go fishing."
