ANN ARBOR, MI, November 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) Ann Arbor, MI -- WriteSteps, a 100 percent K-5 writing and grammar Common Core program for teachers, is a recipient of the 19th Annual Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award.
The Teachers' Choice Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the education market today.
WriteSteps is a research-based program, perfect for principals seeking a teacher-friendly support system that has proven results. WriteSteps is the combination of Writers' Workshop and six traits of quality writing. The system provides students and elementary teachers with all of the tools they need to become effective writers and teachers in the 21st century.
"It is an honor to be chosen for a Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award," said Suzanne Klein, WriteSteps Founder and CEO. "This is a real exciting time for the WriteSteps team. We have worked so hard to create the only award-winning, digital and print, research-based K-5 Common Core writing and grammar program on the market today."
Products that are nominated for the Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award are evaluated on quality, instructional value, ease of use, and innovation. Each product is evaluated on its own merit and winning products are only selected that meet the stringent standards of the judges.
"I would recommend WriteSteps to other teachers because I believe my students' writing has improved due to using this product," said one of the teacher evaluators. "It is correlated to the Common Core, which will be helpful next year!"
Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award is the only awards system in the United States that is exclusively judged by a nationwide panel of teachers. All of the judges used the WriteSteps Common Core writing and grammar program in their own classrooms of K-5 students. WriteSteps will be featured as a winner of the Learning Magazine 2013 Teachers' Choice Award in the January, 2013 issue of Learning Magazine.
ABOUT WRITESTEPS:
In 2007, WriteSteps Founder and CEO Suzanne Klein committed herself to creating teacher-friendly writing lessons after her school decided to prioritize writing due to low student outcomes. The support system she developed - WriteSteps - was so successful in raising test scores and student confidence that the company expanded its scope to refocus instruction on the Common Core State Standards for writing and grammar. Its Common Core release won a "Best of Entrepreneurs" Award from Ann Arbor SPARK in 2010 and launched nationwide in September, 2011.
