Banital Offers Tips on Staying Healthy During the Holiday Season

By following just a few simple tips, individuals can keep their diet and exercise routines on track during the holidays. Banital comments on this season relevant topic.

2012-12-27
PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 27, 2012 (Press-News.org) A helpful article published by The Huffington Post offers readers tips to avoid the dreaded holiday weight gain. The suggestions, offered by health and wellness guru Joy Bauer, ranged from food to fitness. To experience success in any wellness plan, Bauer also suggested readers set specific goals they can meet on a weekly basis. The team at Banital, makers of nutritional supplements designed to facilitate weight loss when used in accordance with a healthy diet and exercise plan, offered up a few tips of their own.

They stated: "These tips that are given to stay healthy over the holiday season are great. The thing to keep in mind as we go through the holidays is that we can probably eat anything we want, especially all those holiday goodies, as long as portion control is kept in mind. A well rounded diet that includes all the healthy fruits and veggies, as well as some lean turkey slices without the skin, and even some holiday cookies, candy and pastries are okay in sensible moderation."

The tips to which they referred included moderation when eating and drinking at holiday parties. By following what Bauer refers to as the "rule of one" in the article, party goers can enjoy a taste of everything without overdoing it. Instead of filling a plate with multiple appetizers or helpings, enjoy a small portion or bite of everything offered. Likewise, the article suggested sticking with light cocktails. A glass of wine or light beer is preferable over cocktails mixed with soda or sugar-laden mixers.

Exercise does not have to take a holiday break during the hustle and bustle of the season. The article suggests individuals get exercise routines in early in the day.

The makers of Banital offered up ways to keep exercise going throughout the day as well. They suggest, "Over the holidays keep reminding yourself that if you have time to eat and enjoy the festive treats you also have time to keep your body burning fats and carbs by continuing to exercise. For instance, when you go out to do some holiday shopping, don't park close to the store entrance. Park farther away so that you force yourself to walk and burn the calories at the same time. Use stairs instead of elevators or escalators. And when walking from store to store walk a faster pace. You can even make a game out of it when shopping with others. Do a fast paced walk and race them to the next shopping destination. We are competitive in nature, and you will be exercising without them realizing what you are doing. Holidays are festive and your diets and exercise can be as well. Happy Holidays!"
