SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) Pearl Law Group recently welcomed Daniel Park as its new Global Operations Manager, a reflection of the growing demand for immigration legal services related to international employee assignments and placement of global talent. While companies continue to grow their operations overseas in both traditional business centers and emerging markets, national immigration policies and regulations don't always work in favor of business, and navigating visa and work permit processes and timelines can be a huge challenge for employers who need teams in place yesterday.
"From frequent global business travelers, to short-, long- and back-to-back assignments across the world - Daniel's seen it all," says firm Partner, Sameer Khedekar, who oversees the growing global immigration practice. Founded in 1995 to work primarily with employers bringing talent to the United States, Pearl Law Group today has dozens of professionals devoted to helping client companies deploy their best and brightest all over in the world, and is one of the largest global immigration practices in the country. Daniel joins practice managers Kristy Pagel-Stumpp and Said Boskovic, and he will manage the day-to-day delivery of services to some of the Bay Area's leading employers.

Motorists Need to Be Cautious When Driving Near New San Jose Bike Lanes
2013-01-08
If you've been traveling around San Jose, you may have noticed some new lanes on local streets. These lanes are part of an enhanced green bikeways project approved by the San Jose City Council, with construction to continue in 2013. This project is meant to get more cyclists on the streets, slow down traffic by eliminating motor vehicle lanes, and ultimately make the city safer for both cyclists and pedestrians. But, as some of the new bike lanes replace vehicle lanes, drivers who are not up to date on the latest developments could be at risk of causing bicycle accidents.

Nap Nanny Baby Recliners Pegged As Dangerous Product, Thousands Recalled
2013-01-08
In late December, four national retailers agreed to recall more than 150,000 Nap Nanny baby recliners in light of reports that the items had caused at least five infant deaths. Designed to cradle young children while they slept, the foam recliners apparently did not feature an effective restraint system, and it was discovered that infants could easy fall over the side.
On December 27, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced their finding that Nap Nanny seats, which were sold between 2009 and 2012, pose a "substantial risk of injury and death to infants." ...

2013-01-08
The colder season is filled with holiday festivities. It is tradition for Minnesotans to partake in the merriment of Thanksgiving get-togethers, Christmas parties and New Year's Eve celebrations. The holidays are a time to reunite with old friends and family. However, along with many of these festivities comes the spirit of overindulgence: plenty of gifts, an assortment of rich foods, and in many instances, one too many alcoholic beverages.
In the month of December 2012, Minnesota's Department of Public Safety reported that approximately 1,300 people had been arrested ...

In late 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report compiling all the latest data on occupational injuries and illnesses. The report paints a picture of injury rates that have been relatively stable over the last few years, without any significant gains in workplace safety. Unsurprisingly, those working in certain occupations were far more likely to suffer from a workplace injury.
Injury rates largely unchanged
For every 10,000 full time employees working in 2011, 117 suffered a nonfatal occupational injury or illness that required days away from work ...

Politics in Minnesota reports that the state has the highest per-capita rate of civil commitments in the country, with more than 650 men currently enrolled in the program. Only two individuals have been discharged from the program over the past two decades. According to The Mankato Free Press, sex offenders are confined to high-security treatment facilities at an annual cost of approximately $120,000 per offender.
However, in December 2012, a federal ...

Distracted driving includes texting, making Facebook status updates and checking email. It also includes more mundane behaviors, like fiddling with the radio and eating. Doing these things divide your attention, leaving you vulnerable to accidents caused by unexpected changes in traffic ...

Atlanta Pool Repair Company, Pinnacle Pool Services, Says Bigger Is Not Always Better When It Comes to Pool Pumps
2013-01-08
How Much Pump is Needed
If your swimming pool capacity is 14,000 gallons, your turnover should be equivalent to 14,000 gallons. Every twelve hours, a turnover is necessary. Alternatively, pool pumps use a mildly dissimilar account of gallons-per-minute or GPM. Some of this may seem straight forward, but it is often misunderstood. An Atlanta pool service expert can assist you in understanding all of these details.
It has become highly acceptable to advertise on horsepower, or how strong a swimming pool water pump is, but not how proficiently it functions. Unfortunately, ...
