Cork-Based Design and Print Company Upper Case Continue to Blaze a Trail

Upper Case continue to blaze a trail having recently moved into state of the art studios and are currently having a new website developed.

2013-01-09
DUBLIN, IRELAND, January 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) Since their foundation in the late eighties, one design & print agency has continued to blaze a trail and set industry standards for well over two decades! The agency in question is Upper Case, a Cork based, innovation led company whose work has been recognised with more industry awards that any other in its field.

Originally established as a typesetting and scanning bureau servicing the advertising, design and print sectors in the mid-nineties, Upper Case evolved into one of Irelands first digital print pioneers. A bold move at the time but one that ultimately paid dividends, as they quickly earned a reputation as innovators in the area of high quality digital print. A stand-alone design studio was also added in response to growing demand for specialist design expertise in a number of new areas.

In 2001 the company appointed Ivan Lavelle to the role as business development manager. Ivan's previous work with an Israeli based digital print company gave Upper Case unique insight and direction in terms of market knowledge, applications and trends.

Now the company's Managing Director, Ivan explains how and why the company transformed from a niche service provider into one of Ireland's most respected full service agencies. "Our strategy has always been to try and stay 3-5 years ahead of the competition and that requires constant evolution and innovation. We believed there was a growing demand for a one-stop-shop service model, with a concept to completion ethos across the full spectrum of design, print and marketing services. Our clients tell us they value new ideas, creativity and smart marketing solutions over cheap and cheerful design or print - so that's what we try to excel at. It's about being a source of ideas, solutions and advice to customers, rather than yet another supplier of generic design/print products."

Today the Upper Case skill-set includes dedicated expertise in the following areas: graphic design, web design, digital printing, direct mail/marketing, exhibition display and promotional gifts. For customers it means they can get anything from a business card, brochure and brand identity to a website, email campaign or exhibition stand....all designed and produced under one roof. Ivan outlines how the recent downturn has actually helped to segment the market.

"With some agencies there's a race to the bottom, to be the lowest cost provider but no focus on results or ROI. Luckily, savvy businesses realise that it's all about a smarter, more targeted marketing approach, allied to good creative design and high quality print production.

We work with start-ups, SMEs and corporates, along with non-profit and public sector organisations too. Our client list includes names like Pepsico, UCC, HSE, Newsweaver, Minelab, CIT, Cork County Council, Mahon Point and The Hope Foundation to name a few."

2010 saw Upper Case relocate to new, state-of-the-art studios in City Gate, Mahon - home to well know names such as Dell, McAffee and VHI. This January Upper Case will launch their newly redesigned website (http://uppercase.ie), comprising over 70 pages of products, services and advice. It will also incorporate an extensive promotional gifts section with over 10,000 products and solutions.

Upper Case is Ireland's premier design and digital print company providing award winning solutions for all your communications needs. To enquire about any Upper Case product or service, please call Olga Delaney or Ivan Lavelle on 021 2409065 or email info@uppercase.ie.

Eyelid Lift

2013-01-09
An eyelid lift, also known as "blepharoplasty", is a surgical procedure which removes excess fat and skin from the area around your eyes to provide you with a refreshed, renewed, and more alert appearance. As you age, your eyelids can begin to droop. In addition, bags, redness, and loose skin may begin to appear below your eyes. The end result can be a tired and worn out look that leaves you feeling self-conscious and less attractive. A board-certified facial plastic surgeon can use an eyelid lift alone or with other facial rejuvenation procedures to provide you ...

Do "English Only" Workplace Policies Discriminate Against Multilingual Workers?

2013-01-09
America is the great melting pot of the world, priding itself on welcoming the tired, poor and huddled masses from around the globe. Hundreds of years later, though, there is a movement at workplaces across the country that discourages those same immigrants from speaking in their native tongues. That movement - one where employers only allow the English language to be spoken on site - has some civil rights advocates concerned about discrimination against multi-lingual employees. Foreign-born or foreign-educated employees have reported feeling "singled out," disenfranchised ...

Illinois Roads Registered 952 Fatalities in 2012

2013-01-09
Anybody who drove on Illinois highways during the latter part of 2012 probably noticed the large signs tallying the total number of roadway fatalities. These signs were meant to alert motorists to the increasing number deaths in the hopes that the sobering statistics would encourage people to drive more safely. Sadly, the year did not end on a positive note. A total of 952 people died in motor vehicle accidents in Illinois in 2012, 34 more than were killed in 2011. The increase comes after several years of steady declines. Still the death toll is much lower than it ...

What Happens to Your Tax Refund After Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?

2013-01-09
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a debt-repayment plan that lasts approximately two to five years. This type of bankruptcy requires the debtor to repay creditors with disposable income. However, tax returns can be considered a form of disposable income, and this might require the debtor to give up the entire amount of the refund toward debt repayment for the first three years of the Chapter 13 plan. On the other hand, there are situations where you may avoid losing part of this tax refund. You can generally keep all of your refund if you have enough money to cover all of your ...

Virginia DUI Convictions Carry Serious Criminal Consequences

2013-01-09
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious crime in Virginia. Even a first offense for driving with a blood alcohol content just slightly over the legal limit can result in significant criminal penalties. The legal consequences can be even worse when driving under the influence results in an accident that injures another person. In those cases, drunk drivers may face lengthy prison sentences. Take, for example, the case of a Virginia man who was recently sentenced to two years and three months in jail -- plus a nine-year suspended jail sentence -- after being ...

Cranes Collapse in New York City Causing Damage and Death

2013-01-09
Construction and manufacturing companies commonly use overhead cranes to transport and lift materials. However, each year, overhead crane accidents result in severe injuries or deaths. In late November 2012, a construction crane collapsed across a Manhattan street, landing on a flatbed truck loaded with air conditioners. Sources indicate that the crane was lifting heavy air-conditioning units when the crane suddenly crashed down on top of the truck. Sources report that the incident shook the area in a manner similar to an earthquake. Fortunately, the position of the ...

Social Security: Program Expanded in Effort to Hasten Disability Claims

2013-01-09
According to numbers reported by the Associated Press, more than 56 million people receive some type of Social Security Benefit. Of these, roughly 11 million are disabled workers, children and spouses - many of which reside right here in Texas. Tragically, there will always be needy recipients who are simply too disabled to work, meaning these numbers will not likely drop any time soon. In fact, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has witnessed an increase of more than 20 percent in disability claims since 2008 - which is represented by a jump from 2.6 million claims ...

Staying Safe on Your Snow Machine During the Long Alaska Winter

2013-01-09
The Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles defines a snow machine as a mechanized vehicle running on skis, belts, skids, treads or low-pressure tires that is designed primarily for use on the ice or snow. Many Alaskans (and the countless tourists that visit the state each year) just know them as a great way to spend time outdoors enjoying all that Alaska has to offer. As fun as snow machines (also known as "snowmobiles" and "snow vehicles" in other states) can be, though, since they move at high speed through wooded areas, over frozen bodies of water ...
