Eco-Story LED Lighting Receives UL Approval for GU24 Base Lamps

Eco-story's LED Products Help New Commercial Construction in California Meet Standards set by Title 24 Regulations

2010-10-20
PORTLAND, ME, October 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) Eco-story LED Lighting Solutions today announced that it has received Underwriters Laboratories approval for par 30 (2 models) and par 38 GU24 base lamps. This approval provides a solution for commercial contractors, builders and architects looking to meet California's Energy Code regulations, also called Title 24, which requires energy efficient lighting in new construction. Eco-story's LED products will allow restaurants, hotels and retail outlets to meet these standards without sacrificing quality.

California established Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations in 1978 in response to a legislative mandate to reduce California's energy consumption. In 2008, those regulations were updated and the new standards went into effect on January 1, 2010, requiring all new construction to include energy efficient lighting to reduce California's energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. To meet the new energy requirement, GU24 bases are replacing traditional bases in energy efficient lighting fixtures. Eco-story now offers an LED lighting solution that will work with GU24 bases while providing up to a 90 percent reduction in energy use.

"To help meet these energy requirements, LED lighting is a great solution but many businesses are worried that switching to LED lights will negatively affect their ambiance," said Mark Shoemaker, co-founder of Eco-story. "Now that Eco-story has UL-approved products, this fear isn't warranted because our products are engineered to emit a warm light instead of the traditional bluish glow of LEDs."
As businesses switch to energy efficient lighting, Eco-story's products not only help maintain the light quality businesses need, but also help businesses save money. Eco-story's LED bulbs can save businesses close to $30,000 by simply replacing 100 light bulbs. Eco-story's GU24 base lamps also last close to 40,000 hours, compared with an average of 1,500 hours for halogen or incandescent bulbs.

iTunes Shines A Light on Independent Artist

2010-10-20
The Apple iTunes Store is better known for hawking the latest Katy Perry and Lady Gaga singles than for taking chances on new artists. Over the years, the official line has been a repeated assertion that the company is in the market to fill iPods, and that they have no designs on becoming a record label. But with the traditional label-driven music industry now a largely outmoded system, it seems more than coincidental that iTunes has begun to champion unsigned, independent artists. Regardless of Apple's motivations, one can certainly see where an artist would stand to ...
