CAI Announces February 2013 Training Seminars And Development Programs In Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC, February 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) Bruce Clarke, president and CEO of CAI (http://www.capital.org), a human resource management firm that helps organizations maximize employee engagement while minimizing employer liability, announced the company's February 2013 schedule of training and development seminars. All courses will be held at CAI's Raleigh location at 2900 Highwoods Blvd. unless otherwise noted.

-"Forklift Operator: Train the Trainer" is a full-day course that will provide participants with the needed formal training for serving as a designated forklift trainer. During the course, which is based on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Revised Standard for Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training, participants will review the formal, or classroom, section of the required forklift training to learn how to become an effective instructor. -"Healthcare Reform Updates: What's in Store for 2013 and Beyond" is an interactive program for CAI members only. During the course, participants will be equipped with a better understanding of how to plan for and meet requirements of future healthcare reform provisions, particularly those that could cause compliance challenges for group health plans. Presentations will be led by Joy Binkley and Lindsey Surratt from Hill, Chesson & Woody Employee Benefit Services. -"HR Assistant Certification Program" is a two-day course that will teach participants the skills, knowledge and abilities needed to excel in an HR Assistant role. Participants will discuss federal and state employment laws, learn to improve communication skills and discover how to respond to issues like harassment and policy violations. Additionally, participants will learn how to conduct effective employee orientations and exit interviews. -"Ask the Expert - Keepin' It Legal: How to Ensure That Your Wellness Program Won't Make You Sick" is an interactive program for CAI members only. Led by Robin Shea, attorney of Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC, the program is the second installment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program she began in 2012. During the program, participants will learn how the ADA, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy rule impact company wellness programs and how to ensure company wellness program success. -"What Every Manager Needs to Know About Progressive Discipline and Termination" is a half-day course that will prepare attendees to effectively use progressive discipline and, when necessary, conduct the termination process. Attendees will learn the essential elements of the progressive disciplinary process, how to identify when progressive discipline is appropriate and how to apply discipline fairly and consistently. Additionally, discussions will cover the importance of proper documentation in the disciplinary and termination processes. The course will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. -"Building Successful Teams" is a half-day course in which participants will discover how to increase team unity, use individual strengths to achieve maximum team results and improve the performance of existing work teams.
