The adjacent Olympiyskiy National Sports Complex, which hosted the Euro 2012 football final and has a capacity of over 70,000, is the premier sports venue in Ukraine and the second largest in Eastern Europe. In addition to hosting international football games and other prime sporting events, the stadium also organises world-class music concerts including famous artists like Madonna, George Michael, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The hotel is surrounded by the major commercial, administration, consular, retail and cultural sites of Kiev which makes it an ideal base for business and a great starting point to explore this green and attractive historical city. Contaminated diet contributes to phthalate and bisphenol A exposure
2013-02-27
While water bottles may tout BPA-free labels and personal care products declare phthalates not among their ingredients, these assurances may not be enough. According to a study published February 27 in the Nature Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, people may be exposed to these chemicals in their diets, even if their meals are organic and foods are prepared, cooked and stored in non-plastic containers. And children may be most vulnerable.
"Current information we give families may not be enough to reduce exposures," said Dr. Sheela Sathyanarayana, ...
'Network' analysis of the brain may explain features of autism
2013-02-27
A look at how the brain processes information finds a distinct pattern in children with autism spectrum disorders. Using EEGs to track the brain's electrical cross-talk, researchers from Boston Children's Hospital have found a structural difference in brain connections. Compared with neurotypical children, those with autism have multiple redundant connections between neighboring brain areas at the expense of long-distance links.
The study, using a "network analysis" like that used to study airlines or electrical grids, may help in understanding some classic behaviors ...
Researcher finds faster, more efficient technique for creating high-density ceramics
2013-02-27
A researcher from North Carolina State University has developed a technique for creating high-density ceramic materials that requires far lower temperatures than current techniques – and takes less than a second, as opposed to hours. Ceramics are used in a wide variety of technologies, including body armor, fuel cells, spark plugs, nuclear rods and superconductors.
At issue is a process known as "sintering," which is when ceramic powders (such as zirconia) are compressed into a desired shape and exposed to high heat until the powder particles are bound together into a ...
