PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) A new article from Yahoo! offers tips for those struggling with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The cold temperatures and early nights of winter make it difficult to feel energized, even for those who don't actually have the disorder. In a new statement to the press, Joshua Fink encourages spending time outdoors to help combat this problem.
Part of the reason why feelings of depression become more frequent in the winter is because sunlight is not as plentiful as it is during other seasons. It is possible to spend an entire day without seeing natural sunshine. For those who don't spend an extended period of time outdoors, even limited exposure to sunlight plays a large part in preventing depression. For those who are hit hardest by the lack of light in winter, there are devices that mimic sunlight in any indoor situation. Just a half hour in front of the device helps to lessen the symptoms of SAD.
Diet can also impact the way an individual handles the winter. Doctors suggest using tryptophan to get through gloomy February days. Tryptophan offers calming properties, and also has mood boosting abilities. Eating foods that are rich in this chemical, such as turkey, milk, and egg whites, helps to relieve symptoms of winter-induced depression. Even just one serving per day can make a difference.
For those who suffer from SAD, Vitamin D is a must-have also. This element has mood boosting properties that help to combat the effects of SAD. A vacation to a warm, sunny spot is ideal when it comes to increasing Vitamin D levels, but experts also suggest simply heading outdoors on sunny days to reap the benefits.
Joshua Fink, an outdoor enthusiast, notes, "While many people would probably like to jet off to a warm island during the winter, this isn't always possible. However, even spending time in a nearby park can prove amazingly helpful when it comes to battling the winter blues. For those who are hit hardest by the winter, this is a free and easy way to get through the season."
Visiting the gym also proves useful for those who are looking to fight the symptoms of SAD. Exercise helps to increase endorphins, which provides mood-lifting effects. For those who aren't interested in freezing as they run on a trail, sweating during an exercise class provides the same perks, minus the subzero temperatures.
Herbal teas are also useful when it comes to increasing happiness during winter. Chamomile and green teas are soothing, thus helping to bring about restful sleep as they ease nerves. Experts also recommend going easy on the alcohol during the winter, as it's a depressant and can amplify feelings of sadness.

2013-03-05
Ohio has passed a new law that will raise -- for the first time in more than 40 years -- the financial responsibility requirements of those driving on the state's roads. Minimum liability coverage levels have remained relatively low in Ohio as compared with some other states. The new, higher levels will help protect financially both liable drivers and those injured or sustaining property damage in motor vehicle accidents because of other drivers' actions.
Obviously, the pricing increases in medical care, motor vehicles and automotive repairs have skyrocketed since 1969, ...

Roger was a young man and the injuries he suffered prevented him from working in his chosen ...
