Medical Linen Services Company Angelica Corporation Reminds Us How Important Clean Sheets Are in Helping Put an End to Flesh-Eating Bacteria

Flesh-eating bacteria has been affecting more and more people over the recent years, and most are blaming hospitals and medical centers for lack of hygiene and poor sanitation of their linen and other medical equipment.

2013-03-07
NORCROSS, GA, March 07, 2013 (Press-News.org) Throughout the U.S., there have been cases of flesh-eating bacteria so severe that major amputations of various limbs has occurred. This was the case with 24-year-old college student Aimee Copeland, who lost her hands, leg and foot due to the widespread bacterial infection.

In about 30 percent of all cases, it is fatal, as was the case with 33-year-old Crystal Spencer, who battled for a month before her body finally succumbed to the bacteria in July 2012.

According to the Center for Disease Control, there are between 500 and 1,500 incidents each year, which is a huge amount considering this can be so easily prevented with correct sanitation and hygiene protocols. This is why for all hospitals, to put a stop to the spread of the bacteria, it is advisable that a professional healthcare linen service is used.

What Do Hospital Linen Services Offer?
With only the best sanitation methods and top-quality equipment used, all the linen from hospitals will be free of all and any bacteria, which might not otherwise be removed with the regular washing methods that many hospitals use in internal laundering procedures.

Special detergents and chemicals are used to ensure that hospitals receive antibacterial laundry that all patients can use, even those with auto-immune diseases who are kept in isolation, where the smallest amount of bacteria can be harmful.

Hospital laundry services also offer medical professionals the ability to shift the focus of the media and public to the fact that they are committed to the sanitation of their sheets. It is highly unlikely that flesh-eating bacteria, or any other type of bacteria, will survive after linen specialists' services are used.

Although flesh-eating bacteria is not usually contracted in a hospital setting where patient rooms and operating rooms are regularly disinfected, it has been known to affect more than one patient from the same hospital, leaving the hospital as a likely suspect. Even though hospitals think they are the cleanest and most hygienic, taking that extra precautionary step and investing in professional hospital linen services will offer peace of mind for doctors and their patients.

"Doctors and medical professionals should be able to concentrate only on helping patients get better," says Aly Merritt, Marketing Manager of Angelica Corporation. "Sterile linens are extremely important, but that shouldn't have to be a concern for doctors; they should already know they're taken care of."

The Outcome
Flesh-eating bacteria is a real threat in a variety of locations - including hospitals, which you would assume to be the safest. To curb the panic that is starting to develop due to the increasing number of cases, hospitals should be doing everything in their power, including changing to a professional medical linen service, to reduce the risk and prevent any possibility of bacterial outbreaks in their facilities.

Gold Price May Rebound as China Buys, Reports Gold Price

2013-03-07
The gold price has dropped below its $1,600 support level, setting a new lower range between $1,550 and $1,625. However, gold's relatively low pricing could prompt China, one of the world's largest bullion consumers, to take advantage of cheap gold, reports American gold dealer, Gold Price. This would boost demand and rise the gold price. Gold Price forecasts that China will begin picking up the pace on gold buying now that the Lunar New Year holiday has passed. The World Gold Council expects China to remain one of the biggest gold bullion consumers this year. Arthur ...

The study, conducted in mice, was published today in the online edition of the journal Neuron. The dentate gyrus is known to play a ...

Researchers discovered that brain waves are shaped so that the brain can selectively track the sound patterns from the speaker of interest and at the same time exclude competing sounds from other speakers. The findings could have important implications for helping individuals with a range of deficits such as those associated ...
