ALAMEDA, CA, March 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) PINC Solutions, a 2012 Gartner Supply Chain Management Cool Vendor and leader in advanced yard management and supply chain visibility solutions, today announced that they have appointed Matt Yearling as the company's CEO. Yearling, who will lead the overall strategic direction of the company, including day-to-day operations, will also become a member of the board of directors.

Matt Yearling will succeed Alan Park, PINC Solutions Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, who was named interim CEO last November after Ken Colby asked to step down from the role of CEO for personal reasons.

"Matt came to our attention because of his strong product orientation, proven ability to lead top performing teams, and track record in delivering value to customers," said Tench Coxe, managing partner at Sutter Hill Ventures and board member. "He will be a key enabler for PINC's continued market expansion and growth."

"PINC didn't become the yard management and shipment visibility solution of the top supply chains in the world overnight," commented Aleks Gollu, CTO and founder of PINC Solutions. "Matt brings the relevant experience, vision, and energy to ensure we will continue to exceed our customers' expectations."

Mr. Yearling has over 25 years of experience in developing and bringing to market world-class ERP, CRM, supply chain, mobile and security business solutions across the global SMB, enterprise, and public sector market segments. Most recently, Yearling was Vice President and General Manager of Encryption Products at Symantec Corporation where he delivered market-leading encryption offerings across the endpoint, cloud, and mobility product families. Previous roles included senior vice president of CRM at Sage Inc., Chief Technology Officer for Embarcadero Systems Corporation (a Ports America company), and Vice President of On Demand for Oracle Corporation.

"It's clear that companies are already recognizing the agility, velocity, transparency and efficiency that PINC's offerings provide," said Matt Yearling, CEO of PINC Solutions. "We have phenomenal assets and a talented team. My goal is to build upon this strong platform to ensure our customers continue to be armed with the best technology and supply chain solutions in the market."

Independent movie rental kiosks have taken root on the Connecticut shore. The Walmarts and Walgreens of the world have Redbox, but smaller stores like Jojo's Food Mart in Westbrook, Conn. don't meet the criteria for Redbox's automated movie rental kiosks. That's where Connecticut-based independent operators Jeff and Sarah Taylor come in. The owners of Watchitnowdvd.com launched their movie rental kiosk at Jojo's convenience store and gas station this month, and right now it's the only game in this seaside town. You don't 'own' your own genes

2013-03-26

Through more than 40,000 patents on DNA molecules, companies have essentially claimed the entire human genome for profit, report two researchers who analyzed the patents on human DNA. Their study, published March 25 in the journal Genome Medicine, raises an alarm about the loss of individual "genomic liberty." In their new analysis, the research team examined two types of patented DNA sequences: long and short fragments. ...
