Virginia Veterinary Medical Association Announces 2013 Virginia Veterinarian Of The Year

Dr. Thomas B. Massie Receives 2013 Virginia Veterinarian Of The Year Award

WASHINGTON, VA, March 27, 2013

The Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (http://www.vvma.org/) has announced that Thomas B. Massie Jr., D.V.M., of Rose Hill Veterinary Practice, P.C., has received the 2013 Virginia Veterinarian of the Year award in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the veterinary profession. Dr. Massie was presented with this prestigious award at the 2013 Virginia Veterinary Conference on Friday, March 1 at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, located at 110 Shenandoah Ave in Roanoke, Va.

Dr. Massie received his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Virginia Tech, and attended Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, where he obtained his doctor of veterinary medicine degree. In 1998, Dr. Massie started Rose Hill Veterinary Practice, P.C. in Washington, Va., which has since grown into two full-service practices including a large animal practice and a small animal practice. He serves as CEO and president of both of Rose Hill's practices. In addition to the VVMA, Dr. Massie is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (AABP), the Society for Theriogenology (SFT) and the Virginia Food Animal Academy. Dr. Massie served on the Board of Directors of the VVMA starting in 2002, served as president of the VVMA from 2009 to 2010 and chairman of the Veterinary Memorial Fund, housed at the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) from 2010 to 2011.
