Could Eight Out Of Ten Parents Be Committing Child Abuse?

"I've found myself getting angry with the parents in the past, but the more I speak to people, the more I think that perhaps they don't know any better themselves."

CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND, October 27, 2010

A recent poll has shown that 84% of parents, when asked about their child's weight levels, were 'not concerned' about them either being, or becoming overweight. The findings come at the same time as evidence showing that around 20% of children in America are not just overweight, but clinically obese. With many children being allowed to procrastinate for hours at home playing videogames or watching TV and being brought up on a high-fat diet of junk-food and little else, many people are keen to see the Criminal Justice system step in and treat these cases as child abuse.

"So many parents I speak to tell me that their kids are suffering from 'puppy fat' or something similar", comments Dan Beesden, of http://oneweekworkout.blogspot.com. "But kids aren't supposed to be big. They're supposed to play, to exercise, to run around full of energy. A lot of parents need to quit the denial and start making some changes."

And it would appear that many people have had enough, and want the law to step in more often and with more power to stop parents from comitting what many people believe to be a form of child abuse. Diabetes levels are on the rise amongst younger children, teenagers are starting to show signs common with heart disease, and there is a serious risk of the average human life expectancy beginning to drop instead of increase.

"I think the most important thing here is to re-educate", explains Dan. "I've found myself getting angry with the parents in the past, but the more I speak to people, the more I think that perhaps they don't know any better themselves. Parents need to learn how to look after themselves and their kids, and they need to do it today."
