MERS/Goodwill and the Cardinals Partner to Collect and Recycle Unwanted Electronics

Drive gives St. Louisans opportunity to responsibly dispose of used electronics, receive voucher for half-price tickets

2013-04-13
ST. LOUIS, MO, April 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) MERS/Goodwill is partnering with the St. Louis Cardinals to host an electronics recycling and general donations drive Monday, April 22 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The drive will be located near the ballpark on Parking Lot C at the corner of 8th and Cerre Street, immediately south of I-64/40.

"MERS/Goodwill has always made it a priority to give back to the community and to be environmentally responsible," said Dr. Lewis Chartock, President and CEO of MERS/Goodwill. "We're very thankful that the Cardinals are teaming up with us again this year for the donation drive. These donations will make a difference to improve the life of someone in our community."

Donors will receive a voucher for a half-price Cardinals ticket offer, restrictions apply. Additionally, participants will receive coupons for a free coffee at Dunkin Donuts, while supplies last, and have a chance to meet Fredbird at 10:30 a.m. Tax receipts for donations will be available.

With the event taking place on Earth Day, MERS/Goodwill and the St. Louis Cardinals are helping solve the problem of used electronics disposal for the third year in a row. The rapid advancement of modern technology is causing many devices to become obsolete, and disposing of these unwanted electronics can be expensive and harmful to the environment.

"We are pleased to partner with Goodwill to promote recycling while also helping those in need," said Bill DeWitt III, President of the Cardinals. "It takes a team effort to preserve the environment and this e-cycling event is a great opportunity for fans to do their part to preserve the environment, while supporting Goodwill's important employment and rehabilitation programs."

All items will be accepted free of charge, and donors do not need to sort their items prior to dropping them off. Computers and computer accessories, phones (home and cell), clocks, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, AV equipment including cable and satellite boxes, and any other electronic devices and general donations will be accepted.

All MERS/Goodwill stores and donation centers accept all types of electronics free of charge every day. Please visit http://www.mersgoodwill.org for more information.
