CHICAGO, IL, April 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) In the early morning hours on March 15, 2013, two people were killed and one injured by a wrong way driver on Lake Shore Drive. According to Chicago Police, an off-duty North Chicago Police Officer, identified as Terrell Garrett, entered southbound Lake Shore Drive heading in the wrong direction.

Witnesses estimate Garrett was travelling more than 60 mph and that other drivers were flashing their lights to try to alert him. The Chicago Police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Authorities indicate that Garrett first crashed into a Toyota, severely injuring the driver, and then crashed into a Jeep, killing both passengers, college students Joaquin Garcia, 25, and Fabian Torres, 27.

Garrett has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
