Mountain Park Civic Club to Host the 2nd Annual Swing-A-Thon

Mountain Park Civic Club is hosting its 2nd Annual Swingathon to raise funds for a dilapidated playground. Come be a part of this exciting event on Saturday June 8, 2013 from 12pm-12am.

2013-04-15
ROSWELL, GA, April 15, 2013 (Press-News.org) Mountain Park Civic Club will serve as this year's host for the 2nd annual Swing-A-Thon to be held on June 8, Saturday, from 12pm to 12am, for the purpose of raising $75,000 in order to purchase a brand new playground to replace the one that they had since 1985 which has been treated with chromate copper arsenic.
Aside from the highlight activity which is swinging on Mountain Park's swing sets, Swing-A-Thon is an exclusive family-friendly event that also features craft and food vendors, kids' games, and other exciting activities that will surely be enjoyed by adults and children alike. This annual event that is now on its second year aims to raise enough money that will be used to replace an old playground structure that has become a part of the lives of the residents and the surrounding citizens of Mountain Park.
Founded in the year 1927, Mountain Park served as the resort community of the wealthy families in Atlanta. Located outside Roswell, the destination park also serves as the home of two stunning lakes and an expansive greenspace adorned by seating and shelters. At present, Mountain Park is one of the treasured wildlife refuges and is also dubbed as the Tree City USA.

The park's playground was built in the year 1985 using chromate copper arsenic and, unfortunately, it failed to meet the guidelines set by ADA. Rotting has also taken place, and some pieces of the playground's structures have already been removed due to this. The deterioration in these aspects of the playground will not just impact the citizens of this small can-do city but even those 15,000 individuals who are visiting the greens and beautiful lakes of the park. This place where people are given the chance to use the playground, ride the canoe, feed the ducks, and enjoy a family picnic deserves a complete renovation, and it is the very reason why Mountain Park Civic Club decided to hold the Swing-A-Thon.

The preliminary plans and site work made by Playworx of Marietta, GA promises a playground which will showcase the city's true nature, bearing the components which looked like boulders and trees that will complement the surrounding scenery. All the structures that will be constructed will service kids 2 to 12 years of age, and this time, all of them will be meeting the ADA guidelines.

Mountain Park Civic Club is a dedicated organization composed of community volunteers who are determined to promote civic welfare and good fellowship among the community's residents in and with the support and assistance of the government of the city. The club hosts all kinds of events from holiday potlucks, to fireworks during Fourth of July, to Easter Egg hunts. Through the years, the club was able to help in the development of numerous structures in their community, which include two bridges, the current playground, the Civic Center, and the City Hall.

For those who are interested to join and be a part of the Swing-A-Thon event, feel free to visit http://www.mountainparkswingathon.com or MPCC's official website, http://www.mpcivicclub.org.
