Utilizing the Benefits of Lithium Ion Battery Technology for Mobile Energy in Special Purpose Vehicles
2013-04-16
FYN, DENMARK, April 16, 2013 (Press-News.org) When implementing Clayton Power lithium battery systems Bentzen Autokaross A/S is able to utilize the features of lithium such as low weight, fast charge times and high energy to create premium special purpose vehicles for our customers. Where benefits such as high reliability, safety and long lasting solutions are key for the end-users. As Michael Roed CEO of Bentzen Autokaross A/S explain why they have chosen a lithium power solution for a SAR emergency vehicle: "in order to solve the tasks we get, we need something that is as reliable as possible."

With the Clayton Power lithium systems, customers see power solutions in different eyes entirely, Michael Roed continues: "We save weight, which is very important, and it (the lithium solution ed.) has a much longer lifetime ... we have significantly more power available, a conventional battery can be discharged with 30%-50%, where a lithium ion battery can be discharged with 80%." Compared to traditional lead-acid solutions, this means that the lithium battery technology enables applications and systems that were not otherwise possible. By equipping vehicles/products with lithium battery technology, companies ensure that a high level of quality is reached and that critical equipment gets the needed power in order to function whenever it is needed.

For extra long periods of operational time, diesel power generators are used as battery extenders As Michael Roed explains about a command vehicle that has to be electrically running for up to 3 days: "We can, by a diesel generator, charge two 100Ah, 12 volt lithium ion batteries through combi inverter/chargers in under one hour, and that while running with computers and internet on the system." This opens up for an entire new world where lithium ion batteries can be used for cheaper, long lasting and environmentally friendly power solutions, where the use of fuel is reduced drastically.

Learn more about the 12 volt lithium ion battery, 24 volt lithium ion battery, Sine Wave Inverter and Inverter/Charger.
