HILLSBOROUGH, NC, April 18, 2013 (Press-News.org) Learn new skills and technologies while networking with professionals in the field of visual media in the life sciences at the BioCommunications Association's 83rd Annual Meeting, BIOCOMM2013: Creativity by the Sea, June 17-21. This year's meeting will be held at the Asilomar Conference Grounds at Asilomar State Park on the Monterey Peninsula in California.
BIOCOMM2013 is a five-day international meeting packed with three days of classroom and workshop sessions culminating in a two-day hands-on post-meeting interactive workshop sponsored by Nikon. Topics include new advancements and upcoming technologies in photography, microscopy, software, design, illustration, social media and mobile device solutions.
This year's Maria Ikenberg Lindberg Keynote speaker is John Sexton, an internationally respected photographer known for his finely crafted, large format black and white photographs. Sexton will transport viewers "on location," as he shares the amazing photographic heritage of the Monterey Peninsula and anecdotes drawn from working as photographic and technical assistant for Ansel Adams.
Ted Kinsman, a specialist in time-lapse cinematography, radiography, scanning electron microscopy, and high-speed flash photography, will present the Anne Shiras Pioneer Lecture. Kinsman's images have appeared on CSI, The X-Files, The Discovery Channel, South Park, and Spongebob Squarepants.
The meeting features two workshops, "Creative Boot Camp," by Stefan Mumaw, and "Adobe Digital Publishing Suite: Building Rich, Interactive Tablet Apps for Designers," by Colin Fleming. Callahan Creek Creative Director Mumaw will share the key creative characteristics of daily creative output and identify the obstacles to effective creative training, breaking down ideation into digestible steps. Adobe's Colin Fleming will share the new features of Adobe Creative Suite 6 and the amazing possibilities with Adobe Creative Cloud. Take your images and publications mobile with InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, and the new Adobe Edge animation software.
Chief Medical Officer of Leica Biosystems, Jared Schwartz, M.D., Ph.D. will illustrate how ePathology enables the creation of electronic slides, providing mobile access to skilled pathologists and research.
