Tourist Board Promotes Wales as Spa Destination

WESTERHAM, ENGLAND, April 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) The official Welsh tourist board is working hard to promote the country as a premier spa destination this year with a new marketing drive.

Visit Wales produced a marketing video that depicts the country's beaches, museums and spas as places to visit in search of relaxation.

To help visitors to spas in Wales, the tourist board has a range of Gold Award winning spa hotels on its website.

Spas across the country offer a range of facilities you'd expect in top class spas, while visitors will also benefit from access to the country's huge swathes of nature.

Spa treatments have long been used to help ease aching muscles and promote rest and relaxation. To do this a range of methods are used, including hydrotherapy, hot tubs and massage therapies.

That said, taking spa breaks is not always about rest and relaxation; by combining exercise, fresh air and great food, visitors can enjoy a more holistic approach to wellness.

Wales is just 274 km from end to end and 97 km across, but for such a small country it features some of the UK's most dramatic mountains and secretive beaches.

The Gower peninsular was declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as early as 1956, and the Snowdonia mountain range features a number of challenging peaks and climbs - the highest being Mt Snowdon at 1085 m (3,560ft).

With three sides of the country sporting coasts there's much to be discovered along regions such as the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path - ideal for walkers who'd rather not climb the steep valleys in search of natural vistas.

The Usk Valley is another popular destination favoured by tourists in search of spa treatments - there's 1,400 acres of parkland to explore.

And for visitors to the main cities of Cardiff and Swansea, there's spas on the doorstep of all the regular entertainment venues and city facilities.
