NJ Grid-Tied Solar Energy Project Solutions Showcased at NJ Conference of Mayors Spring Conference

Alternative Utility Services and Community Green Energy discussed how NJ Government Energy Aggregation can be used with renewable energy solutions such as Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VSPPA) at NJCM Spring Conference.

2013-05-05
LAKE GENEVA, WI, May 05, 2013 (Press-News.org) Community Green Energy (CGE) and Alternative Utility Services (AUS) brought their key players, President Fritz Kreiss and VP of Finance and Business Development, Mike Erickson to New Jersey for the annual NJ Conference of Majors Spring Conference. Their purpose was to extend discussions on Municipal Energy Aggregation; where communities aggregate the electric loads of all the residents to choose their electric supply, to include renewable energy components as well.

The Virtual Solar Power Purchase Agreement (VSPPA), co-developed by CGE and AUS, was designed to provide electricity users with a simpler and more transparent way to sponsor an existing or planned solar generation project, through purchasing the off-site electricity generated directly from it over a 15 to 20 year term.

"We emphasized our VSPPA business model at the conference," said Mike Erickson. "Through the simple act of committing to buying electricity from a solar generation project, communities can create hundreds of jobs while promoting sustainability."

"All of the cities are under budget constraints," said Fritz Kreiss. "Saving money, promoting economic development and meeting sustainability goals are ongoing pursuits. Municipalities can achieve all these goals through a Municipal Energy Aggregation plan that incorporates a VSPPA business plan. By supporting the development and construction of direct grid-tied local solar generation, a VSPPA eliminates the complexity and roadblocks of sourcing renewable energy from an off-site source, and helps boost the local economy."

CGE also sponsored a door prize at the conference, donating 250 renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the winner. 250 RECs have the carbon equivalency of 279,715 lbs. of CO2 not being produced. This represents the emission avoidance of the electricity used to power 19 homes for one year.

The New Jersey Conference of Mayors was founded in 1963. It is the oldest and largest statewide Mayors organization in the country. The NJCM represents the interest of Mayors to State and Federal legislatures and administration, with the intent to reflect the will of the people of the state of New Jersey and improve their quality of life.

Alternative Utility Services, Inc., established 1993, is a national energy consulting company licensed as an energy broker or aggregator nationwide including NJ. 800-392-4287

Community Green Energy develops and finances renewable energy and energy efficiency projects nationwide. Included among their many projects are community solar gardens, community choice aggregation and utility scale solar development. http://www.communitygreenenergy.com 262-248-0927
