LOS ANGELES, CA, November 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) Pardee Homes scored big in the 2011 SoCal Awards, receiving 11 top honors for individual new home neighborhoods; brand identity and promotion of its green building program and responsiveness to homebuyer needs with its "What Matters Most" campaign.
Pardee Homes' best-selling LivingSmart Homes design series in Beaumont was the evening's big winner, taking the coveted Community of the Year and Consumer Choice designations for detached homes. Additionally, the homes won "Best in Show" with the overall Consumer Choice honor, selected from Consumer Choice winners in the competition's four market regions.
"The LivingSmart designs epitomize our company mission to bring well-designed, high-performance, attainable homes to singles and couples just starting out, families looking for growing room and empty nester couples who want an easier, smarter way to own," said Mike McGee, Pardee Homes President and CEO. "Key to these homes' success is their green, resource-conserving signature, and we are proud to see this core component of our homebuilding program again highly honored."
Pardee's new home winners are in Beaumont, Lake Elsinore and San Diego. They are:
LivingSmart Homes at Tournament Hills in Beaumont--in addition to Community and Consumer Choice wins, these affordable, green-built detached designs were applauded for their landscape design, new home sales center and signage. Pardee's LivingSmart sister series at Canyon Hills in Lake Elsinore was also a winner for signage, and a finalist for the Consumer Choice honor.
Highlands Village at Carmel Country Highlands in San Diego--this upscale townhome community was named the SoCal winner for Best Product Design of an Attached Community. It was also a Community of the Year and Consumer Choice finalist.
Terramar in Torrey Highlands in San Diego--another best-selling project for Pardee, Terramar's upscale neighborhood earned a Consumer Choice SoCal Award and was a finalist for its architectural design.
Pardee Homes' additional award winners reflect the company's established leadership in green and sustainable homebuilding. SoCal Award judges bestowed top honors on the LivingSmart brand logo and The Earth Month initiative, which was staged throughout April in all of Pardee's market regions.
"LivingSmart is in its 10th anniversary year, and its success at all price points continues to show us that green matters to buyers who make their pick with Pardee," said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing. "Earth Month's success is another important endorsement of our green commitment--and we're delighted to thank the home shoppers and buyers who participated in our Earth Month activities, and the judges who voted it into the winner's circle!"
Sponsored by Sales and Marketing Councils throughout Southern California, The SoCal Awards honor superior achievement in sales, marketing and merchandising excellence. The Sales & Marketing Councils it represents are part of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Inc. Judges represent a cross section of home building's professional disciplines, and toured all eligible communities.
Pardee Homes is recognized for its superior master-planning concepts, quality homes, responsive customer service and dedication to the educational and civic goals of the communities in which it builds. The company's many awards honor design and planning, and commitment to greener and more sustainable new home development. Visit www.pardeehomes.com.

The leading U.S. tarp supplier Tarps Plus sent tarps to the stricken area but much more is needed. Those who are preparing for seasonal thunder and rain storms should look into canvas or poly tarps right away.
The fact that poly tarps and some canvas tarps are waterproof is one of the greatest aspects that can be found. When those storms hit, there could be many leaks on the roof that have yet to be discovered. ...

Living Trust Scams Targeting Elderly and Vulnerable Arizonans
2010-11-03
The Attorney General of Arizona, Terry Goddard, has issued an official notice to people across the state to be on the lookout for unscrupulous salespeople offering do-it-yourself living trust kits that are oftentimes both unnecessary and financially risky. At an average of $1,500 apiece, this is a very lucrative con for the scammers and a big loss for the victims.
The high volume of such living trust-type products has led the Attorney General's office to deem them "mills," a name indicative of a cookie-cutter approach that is focused on just pumping out sales. They have ...

Foreclosure Mix Up Causes Borrower to Consider Bankruptcy
2010-11-03
A San Antonio man profiled in a recent WOAI-TV segment has experienced a bizarre path to the foreclosure process. Roque De Leon claims that his original $35,000 mortgage, secured in 2002, multiplied tenfold when Chase purchased the mortgage from Washington Mutual in 2008 and somehow tacked a zero on the end of his account balance. "Chase started rejecting my $350/month payments, and demanded $2,000 per month," De Leon explained through a translating friend. Before the confusion had been cleared up, the bank initiated foreclosure proceedings and he was at risk of losing ...
