MECHANICSVILLE, VA, June 15, 2013 (Press-News.org) With so many affected by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma and Texas, AMF Bowling Centers hosted a nationwide event on Sunday, June 9 to raise funds for the American Red Cross.
From noon to 6 p.m. on June 9, $5 from the purchase of every bowling session at all AMF centers was collected for donation to the American Red Cross in support of their relief efforts for those affected by the recent tornadoes. Almost 8,000 sessions were purchased across the United States, culminating in $39,255 raised for the Disaster Relief Fund.
"These tornadoes have been true tragedies, and we've felt their impact firsthand," said Steve Satterwhite, AMF's CFO and COO. "We are so impressed by the community response, and are excited to be able to donate such a substantial amount to the American Red Cross. Thank you to everyone who came out and bowled and made this donation possible."
For those who were unable to come out and bowl on June 9, monetary donations can still be made directly to the American Red Cross' website.
AMF is the world's largest owner and operator of bowling centers. Since the introduction of the automated pinspotter in 1946, AMF has been a leader in the bowling industry. More than 20 million bowlers per year make AMF their bowling destination of choice. AMF is where America goes bowling.
