Ben Martin, director of franchise development/editor/COO of Coastal Angler Magazine, the nation's second largest monthly outdoors magazine, announced today that Derek and Trish Mallard have purchased two Coastal Angler Magazine franchises in Georgia—Savannah/Statesboro and Southeast Coastal Georgia.

Derek Mallard is also the CEO of Okefenokee Emergency Medical Service, which he has owned and operated since 1994.

"This is an excellent opportunity for me to combine my business knowledge with my love for outdoors and fishing," said Georgia native Derek Mallard. "This will be a family run operation and it will be centered on one of the activities we enjoy the most—fishing."
"Derek and Trish are already successful business owners and operators," said Martin. "We look forward to watching them leverage their business acumen in the world of fishing, boating and conservation."

Captain Rodney Smith published the first edition of Coastal Angler Magazine in Brevard County, Florida in 1996. By December 2009, 18 franchises in Florida and one in the Bahamas had been established, making the outdoors focused magazine the largest circulated in Florida.

Today, 39 franchise magazines are published and monthly circulation has grown in the past nine months from 190,000 to 390,000.
