IDV Solutions Updates Visual Command Center - Enterprise Risk Visualization Software

New version 3.1 delivers enhancement to weather, social media visualization.

2014-04-08
STERLING HEIGHTS, MI, 11April 08, 2014 (Press-News.org) IDV Solutions today announced an update to its enterprise risk visualization (ERV) software, Visual Command Center. The new release, version 3.1, includes significant enhancements to its weather risk data visualizations to help organizations to alert, assess, and take action against threats to their assets and operations. The company also announced an update to its Twitter visualization tool, with version 3.1.

Visual Command Center empowers organizations to protect their people, facilities, and operations against real or potential threats. It monitors real-time risk events such as acts of terrorism, weather, hazardous materials, as well as data from other sources, such as Web feeds or internal and external systems including physical security devices. When a risk is detected near an asset or employee location, Visual Command Center automatically generates an alert. Operators can use powerful visualization, filtering, and query tools to rapidly assess the threat, and then act to mitigate risk.

The weather enhancements include improved alerting for the three most severe types of weather, tornadoes, flash floods, and severe thunderstorms; user-controllable playback animation for nearly 30 different current and forecast weather variables, including radar; and automatic alerting for hurricane forecasts. Additional weather event details, including recommended actions from the National Weather Service, can be used to assess the threat and take action, all without having to exit the Visual Command Center application or shift to another display screen.

Visual Command Center version 3.1 now automatically generates an alert for new bulletins from the Department of Homeland Security's United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT)'s "Cyber Attack" feed, which alerts organizations to current security issues, vulnerabilities, and exploits.

The enhanced Twitter visualization version 3.1 tool enables users to monitor social media for pre-programmed threats, such as "terrorism" or "bomb," and to perform ad hoc searches for words or phrases that might alert an organization to an emerging threat and give operations teams critical extra seconds to assess and act to protect its people.

"Visual Command Center version 3.1 builds on our 3.0 release by adding more capabilities and ease of use for our customers so that they can be more proactive in alerting, assessing, and acting on threats to their people, assets, and business operations," said Ian Clemens, Chief Technology Officer, IDV Solutions. "Spring and summer mark the beginning of severe weather season and large public events and gatherings. The timing is opportune for the weather and social media visualizations in the new version."
