The San Antonio Theatre Coalition (SATCO) is proud to announce the participating playwrights and directors in its seventh annual TheatreASAP.

The annual event "holds creativity's feet to the fire" (Kiko Martinez, San Antonio Current) by giving participating playwrights 12 hours to write ten-minute plays using required elements (a prop, a cast description, and a line of dialogue), and then giving actors and directors 12 hours to memorize, stage, and perform them. In the past, TheatreASAP has met with an enthusiastic response from audience and critics, with Deborah Martin of the San Antonio Express-News declaring the 2009 showcase "a richly satisfying evening."

Playwrights taking part in this year's event include:

• Laurie Dietrich, part of the pioneering team that created TheatreASAP in 2004, and a participating playwright in 2006;
• Lee Hurtado, making his first appearance in TheatreASAP;
• Sheila Lynch Rinear, making her second consecutive appearance in TheatreASAP;
• Richard Rosen, making his first appearance as a writer after participating as a director in the very first TheatreASAP in 2004;
• Ben Tremillo, making his first appearance in TheatreASAP;
• James Venhaus, participating in his third TheatreASAP (he previously wrote plays for the event in 2007 and 2009).

Participating directors include:

• Lou Garza, making his third consecutive appearance in TheatreASAP;
• Greg Hinojosa, who participated as an actor in 2007 and 2009, and as a director in 2004;
• Kathleen Lovejoy, who previously directed for TheatreASAP in 2007 and 2009 after participating as an actor in 2004;
• Irene Miller, making her debut as a TheatreASAP director after serving on the event's committee in 2009;
• David Morgan, making his TheatreASAP debut;
• Gypsy Pantoja, participating as a director for the first time.

The playwrights and directors will be introduced on Saturday, August 28 at a reception taking place at Northwest Vista College's Palmetto Center for the Arts, a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2009 to host the college's drama, dance, and music programs. The Center's facilities include a 400-seat proscenium theater, fully functional scene and costume shops, and innovatively designed dressing and green rooms, allowing students to produce full-scale works in all disciplines.

"I'm very excited about the team we have this year," says Mellissa Marlowe, TheatreASAP 2010 producer, "and with the Palmetto Center, our actors and directors will have a fantastic space to work in. I think our seventh year is going to be a 'lucky' one!"

Immediately following the reception, at 1pm, the college will host auditions for actors (age 18 and up) interested in performing in TheatreASAP. All actors should prepare a monologue and bring a headshot and resume (if possible); to set up an appointment to audition, please contact Marlowe at 210.486.4824.

When we have adverts on the television proclaiming that the average injury payout is GBP2,700 and the cost of insurance fraud reaching almost GBP2bn in the UK, then we say that investing in accident and insurance fraud investigation is now more pertinent than ever before. Especially as these figures do not look like diminishing anytime soon, at least not without some form of affirmative action.
