DETROIT, MI, April 23, 2014 (Press-News.org) In an effort to provide opportunities for youth to learn leadership skills, become community advocates and prepare for the workforce, Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) has launched the Youth Grooming and Etiquette Program. The program is offered by NSO's three youth programs located at the Harper-Gratiot Multi-Service Center: Life Choices' Children Services, Youth Initiatives Project (YIP) and YouthLink.
"The goal of our new Youth Grooming and Etiquette Program is to provide opportunities for young consumers with limited resources to learn how to become successful adults" said Reginald Williams, YouthLink Program Director. "We offer valuable information about the importance of presentation and etiquette in anticipation of entering the workforce."
To help put these lessons into practice and assist with limited resources, NSO seeks donations of new items for its recently established Grooming Closet. Items range from deodorant and toothpaste to body spray, nail polish and shaving gel. For a complete list of items, please visit http://www.nso-mi.org.
NSO also requests volunteers with experience to teach social and business etiquette classes on topics such as dining skills and tie knotting, as well as sponsors to provide meals at local restaurants so the young consumers can test what they have learned.
For more information and to volunteer or make a donation, contact Sue Pierson-DiTomasso at 313-961-4890 ext. 1031 or sditomasso@nso-mi.org.
Since 1955, Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) has been reaching out to people across metropolitan Detroit by strengthening and empowering neighborhoods, supporting families and helping people in need. Over the years, the scope and variety of services offered have grown into a network of sophisticated, vertically integrated programs that have received local, statewide and national recognition. For more information about NSO, visit http://www.nso-mi.org.
