Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Law Graduates 40 Intellectual Property Lawyers

40 Law Students Graduate from Rajiv Candhi School of Intellectual Law

2010-12-17
OMAHA, NE, December 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Law (founded by Vin Gupta), graduated a record number of IP lawyers this year. Not only did they graduate, but all students received multiple job offers. Vinod Gupta has invested $2-2.5 million through the Vinod Gupta Charitable Foundation setting up the country's first school on intellectual property rights (IPR). Gupta has also funded a string of other educational institutes in India.

The institute provides world-class legal education in the intellectual property space, leading to post-graduate degrees in law and later doctorate programs. Applicants have to be science, engineering and medical graduates.

Intellectual property covers a gamut of issues ranging from patent laws and procedures, copyrights, information technology, intellectual property rights entrepreneurship and technology transfer.

"I feel a huge need for intellectual property legal experts in India over the next few years. Also India will become a major source for outsourcing intellectual property related legal search projects. The US has over 100,000 lawyers specializing in IPR and in India, we barely have a thousand," said Gupta.

Due to the strong demand the law school plans to expand from 60 students to 90 students next year.

The Vinod Gupta Charitable Foundation also set up the Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur in 1993 that produces about 120 management graduates annually.

The foundation established the Ram Rati Gupta Women's Polytechnic, named after Gupta's mother, at his home village of Rampur Maniharan in Uttar Pradesh, in 2000.
