Association between acute alcohol use, firearm-involved suicide

(Press-News.org) About The Study: This study of suicide decedents who had consumed alcohol prior to their death suggests that, as alcohol consumption increased, the probability of a firearm-involved suicide increased until a certain blood alcohol concentration, at which point the probability started to decrease. The findings suggest that interventions targeting heavy alcohol use may aid in efforts to reduce the suicide mortality rate, particularly suicides involving a firearm.
