DirectRooms.com - Celebrate National Day in Luxembourg

DirectRooms.com divulges that visitors to Luxembourg can join in the with the country's residents to celebrate the nation with a huge party that rivals even celebrations for the New Year.

2011-05-10
PHUKET, THAILAND, May 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) National Day is a celebration of the country and people show their appreciation and pride for what makes where they live so special. The party features a mixed programme of activities to make sure everyone is kept entertained and one of the highlights is the torch lit parade that works its way through the city centre.

The parade features bands and students and groups carrying fire lit torches in a large procession that lights up the night sky.

Visitors can then see an impressive fireworks display as it's set off around the bridge that extends above the Petrusse Valley. The cathedral also holds mass with members of the royal family in attendance to add to the occasion. Later in the evening street parties are often held with live music and plenty of dancing and it's a good time to try local specialities such as waffles, sausages and even the odd beer.

The festivities last from 22nd to 23rd June 2011, and 23rd marks the Grand Duke's birthday along with commemorating Luxembourg's most popular and successful ruler, the Grand Duchess Charlotte. Due to the thousands of people taking part hotels in Luxembourg Airport are extremely hard to find with visitors who come to join the celebrations.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "Hotels will be at a premium with rates going up and so visitors should look for the best deals online."
