SHERWOOD, AR, May 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) DetentionReport (http://www.detentionreport.com), a new website that releases daily mugshots of different personalities has just been launched. Web visitors can comment on the site without registering.

How DententionReport Works

Content is mainly generated by the Internet community. Some of the funniest mugshots of famous people or local criminals are collected from various sources and submitted to the website. The site owner then publishes these photographs on the site and web visitors are free to comment on these photos without having to go through cumbersome registrations. Monthly contests are ran to motivate users to submit their favorite mugshots.

How the Website Started

The idea for the website was inspired from a popular forum thread. On the thread, forum members took funny mug shots from all over the Internet and posted them on the forum. Other forum members found the thread to be highly entertaining and soon started to join in the fun. As more and more people posted on the thread, it became apparent that a website like DetentionReport may well become hugely popular on the Internet. The site, similar in fashion to a proper forum, encourages user interaction by not forcing registrations. The original forum posts generated tens of thousands of page views, and several mugshots have become classic photos.

A local criminal turned celebrity?

Of all the mugshots being posted, perhaps the most outstanding shot came from Leo Propst. Leo was arrested mostly for public intox and he didn't seem to be able to kick the habit. He kept being arrested over and over again and had numerous mugshots posted on the Internet. It's been rumored that Leo has been arrested more than 75 times in his life and that number appears to be increasing as fans had a Facebook group created just for Leo where they track his ever growing arrest record. Visit DetentionReport for more interesting personalities.

Shocking News Reports

The site also features a well kept news section. This section contains mostly news reports on criminal activities. These are interesting stories that promise to be well received by the online community. What makes these stories shocking and interesting is that it is easy for anyone to identify with the crimes reported in these stories. For example, check out these stunning news headlines:

1) "Cellphone 'Pocket Dials' 911, Leads To Suspect's Arrest"

2) "Car Thief Arrested For Asking Cops To Pay For Gas"

Sharing news and information

Besides being able to comment freely on DetentionReport, web visitors can also share information freely with major social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Commenting on the site is a breeze if one is already a member of Facebook. There is no need to create additional accounts as Facebook users can simply leave comments when they finish reading a news story. As of writing this press release, DetentionReport has already garnered over twelve hundred fans on its Facebook Fan Page.

Ants give new evidence for interaction networks

Ants give new evidence for interaction networks
2011-05-23
Be it through the Internet, Facebook, the local grapevine or the spread of disease, interaction networks influence nearly every part of our lives. Scientists previously assumed that interaction networks without central control, known as self-directed networks, have universal properties that make them efficient at spreading information. Just think of the local grapevine: Let something slip, and it seems like no time at all before nearly everyone knows. By observing interactions in ant colonies, University of Arizona researcher Anna Dornhaus and doctoral candidate Benjamin ...

Human brain's most ubiquitous cell cultivated in lab dish

2011-05-23
MADISON – Pity the lowly astrocyte, the most common cell in the human nervous system. Long considered to be little more than putty in the brain and spinal cord, the star-shaped astrocyte has found new respect among neuroscientists who have begun to recognize its many functions in the brain, not to mention its role in a range of disorders of the central nervous system. Scientists find odd twist in slow 'earthquakes': Tremor running backwards

2011-05-23
Earthquake scientists trying to unravel the mysteries of an unfelt, weeks-long seismic phenomenon called episodic tremor and slip have discovered a strange twist. The tremor can suddenly reverse direction and travel back through areas of the fault that it had ruptured in preceding days, and do so 20 to 40 times faster than the original fault rupture. "Regular tremor and slip goes through an area fairly slowly, breaking it. Then once it's broken and weakened an area of the fault, it can propagate back across that area much faster," said Heidi Houston, a University of ...
